It's great and real cinema
jatin432116 September 2022
Real story real cinematography Great 👍🏻 It's based on BJP MLA Kuldeep singh sengar from Unnao rape case.

I really enjoyed watching this movie.

Background music good All actor are doing great job.

An honest take on the state of rape survivors in the country, for whom the pursuit for justice is often more tortuous than the crime itself, Siya opens a window to a disturbing space that is not covered by government data and news headlines.

The film marks the directorial debut of Manish Mundra who has produced a string of powerful independent films. The shadow of the Unnao and Hathras rape cases are unmistakable, but Manish opts to look beyond the nuts and bolts of the crime to paint the larger picture.

SIYA:-the second half kept it from being a masterpiece
puranjanbasak18 June 2023
Siya is a drama film directed by manish mundra.

Pooja pandey and vineet kumar singh have acted with great application. Vineet is anyway a wonderful actor, but pooja in a difficult role did her part nicely. Other actors were good. They did not have much material to act.

The first shot of the film is a metaphorical one. A long sequence at night, where a sister is narrating a story to his little brother about courage and wits, is a foreshadow of the things about to happen. The first half's writing too is very good. Its engaging and takes one step at a time, making a commentary on caste, police negligence. From the second half, the film starts to deviate. It looked as if the film was in a dilemma whether to show the futility of justice or the procedural to the way of justice. As a result, neither of the things hit us anywhere. Things happen without any closing scene, too many loose ends.

The music is decent. The two songs in the second half are lyrically very touching. One of them is a doha. The background score has been used minimal, mainly the drama of the scene is kept at the forefront. The dialogues are good. At one point, siya herself states "aisi nyay ka kya fayda jise dekhne koi zinda hi na ho." That was a major twist in the film. The film took the route of an open end, which i don't complain about. But the loose ends could have been dealt better.

The sequences of siya's misery is horrific to watch, and its tough to sit through. The film is very raw and gritty for anyone. That's where its negatives feel lighter to its positives. I rate it 8.5 out of 10.

Awesome watch

Warning: Spoilers
For a first time director, Manish Mundhra has shown that he is here to play a long inning. Siya stands out for its brazen look at the society and its views on a ghastly crime as rape. The cast has indeed done a tremendous job and stand out. The story is heart wrenching and literally makes you stand in Siya's shoes. Don't really know if this is based on a similar titled book available on Amazon written by some Arora guy. Nonetheless, 'Siya' is one story that had to be told on the big screen that is otherwise trashed by worthless stories of ageing superstars. Come on Manish with such more true to life stories.

Finally I can say that bollywood has a good movie I've just watched this movie it really blew my mind, siya gave best message I didn't think movie could be that good I literally enjoyed the movie throughout, even I've also cried in many scenes both lead actor played amazing performance vineet kumar and pooja pandey, As we've already seen vineet in other movies he's really talented, siya made film with passion that exceeds expectations What a picture cinema at its finest siya is the high energy funny exhilarating, this film is really emotional I don't want to give any spoilers a girl who got gang raped and she fought she didn't give up and in her supporting role vineet played an outstanding performance, main thing about this film Whoever is rapist should be punished, he has no right to live, he should get only death, this is the best message of film, If you walked in to watch siya" (as I did) confident that you knew what was in store, not expecting to be surprised you'd be right and wrong, What a legend is vineet kumar singh A movie that deserve 10/10, you will also agree when you watch this movie this movie deserve best movie of the year, must watch this great film if you like the trailer..

Phenomenal Movie
meghsbh17 June 2023
Hatts off to the director. A phenomenal Movie executed wonderfully. It really leaves you wondering is there any hope in today's world. It shows dark reality of how politicians or any powerful person can get any with anything. It shows the will power of a rape victim against all odds. A must must watch movie. Brought tears into my eyes. This movie should be applauded and appreciated. Its real art. Actors also did such a good job at portraying the strong character. I didn't expect much from this movie but It left me completely speechless. Just wow. It has potential to win many many awards even in international platform.

Captivating Performance and Compelling Narrative
Avinava891 September 2023
I'm a simple guy - when Vineet appears, I head to the cinema. However, in this instance, Pooja Pandey truly stole the spotlight. Her portrayal of the character is outstanding, whether it's the eerie shots, the vacant expressions, or the unwavering determination of a girl who's lost but not defeated.

The movie gains momentum in its latter half as the carefree journey transforms into a tale of trauma. The only drawback lies in some extended scenes without dialogue that could've been trimmed.

My heart goes out to determined directors, casts, and crews who, despite knowing their film might not receive the recognition it deserves, remain passionate and dedicated to creating such films for a greater cause.

We must be vocal on it and its an oscar winning movie i guarantee if it doesn't get an Oscar shame on world.i want movies to be like this for sure only. It reminds me all what i heard in news those days. I want to say the writer and director are best and the acting was too not fake . This may be just a film for others but its a story that happens everyday with everyone in india .whether you are well off or poor the system fails us every now and then. It depicts the current scenaio of india in which every human suffers but can't do anything. Salute to the makers i would say you must watch it and it should be made free and compulsory for every young generation to watch it. Whether it be a nursery child or a dying one. Every one should be made to look at it for once atleast . Its truth which is unfolding in with enlightenment for sure for the gimmicks.

copied
namannarang-0860716 September 2022
First half is basically the exact similar to a book written by author lakshay arora, second half has no depth, changed a few things here and there to try to make it originial but fails, even the title was copied. Actors have acted well and bring some emotion and sympathy. Direction is subpar and monotonous. 2 out of five stars, bring creativity and inspiration, dont copy from small authors. Give them due credit and respect their ideas and writing. If I didnt read the book before I would have never thought that bollywood can become a cheap copying production house and never give credit to other authors. Same storyline, same name, same style of storytelling. Interesting.

This is the kind of movie which bollywood needs and really appreciate the direction of the movie.
satyaranjanbehera18 June 2023
This is the kind of movie which bollywood needs and really appreciate the direction of the movie. It should create an awareness in the society so that this cruel act should never occur in this society again. Law makers should make stronger law to protect our innocent girls and make. Really heart touching story and loved each character played in that movies. But the ending made me cry and couldn't stop myself from crying. Especially when the heartbeat stopped. This is shame on each and everyone of us they still after 75 years of independence we are seeing this kind of story and sad part is the politicians are responsible for that.

Painful !!!!!
sameerlodaya20 June 2023
Sameer lodaya

The content is very painful to see and accept things like this has happened...

The movie is based on a very hard and strong content before also we had seen many movies like this..the movie lacks strong presentation of fight back from victim..the open end was illogical perhaps there should be strong ending to justify the content...strong character were needed to play as CBI chief..the movie emphasised more on the depress content..it fails to give a strong message rather it shows the evil is winning.

It could had been the strongest movie if they could had portrait in a better way

I hope they come back with a another part where the victim fights back strongly.

Very well directed True event.
gauravkind27 June 2023
Very fine direction and excellent performance by entire star cast. This isn't a movie this a sad story of innocent girl from UP India and this case was known as Unnao rape case. I would certainly give this movie 10 star but the director missed BJP party symbol and real name of accused. I personally feel the movie director should use actual facts and specifically in this movie they should have added Bhartiya Janta Party details that's how so called Beti Bachao party real face to public. Such a big shame in 21 century and and that too when BJP is in center and was jn state ruling party. Sorry for diverting the topic from reviews to political critics. But very nice direction and great performance.

The movie has simply woven the events of Unnao Rape case of UP
sankalpims5 August 2023
Siya is a powerful and moving film that tells the story of a young woman's journey to find her voice.

The film is both timely and timeless, exploring themes of gender inequality, violence against women, and the power of the human spirit. It is a film that will stay with you long after you have seen it.

It seems I am watching all events of Unnao rape case in UP :( . Sad but reality.

I highly recommend Siya to anyone who is looking for a powerful and moving film. It is a film that will make you think, feel, and ultimately, inspired.

The film's power to make you think, feel, and be inspired. Hope we can do for crime against women.

A masterpiece showcased the sad reality of rap victims in India
This is a movie that requires courage to go through with. Movie doesn't claimed to be based on real events but I believe somehow it is based on the crimes happened in Unnao and Hathras.

The pace of the movie is very static and gives it a slow burn theme where you would require patience to watch this movie. The setting is very natural, dark and raw that gives this movie a pureness.

Eye opening movie that shows the inhuman behaviour of people in power. Movie successfully delivered the pain and anguish directly to us that the victim could have experienced.

The performance of all the characters is superb. They undoubtedly convince us to believe that it's a pure drama to watch.

People should praise this movie!

Excellent
kamalv9915 October 2023
This is Oscar, Bafta, Cannes material. It takes a capable captain to steer the actors, the cinematographers and everyone involved to create this masterpiece. We cried, we huffed and puffed during the entire film. A movie that gets you talking in between is exactly my kind of movie. I tried finding flaws in the direction but couldn't. Throughout the film, it shows the downtrodden people of rural India being defeated and losing an inevitable battle to the system and the evil people in power. But in the last second it shows the survival of the human spirit. Incredible experience. Hope to see stuff more from Manish Mundra.

Siya: A Film That Will Make You Angry, Sad, Hopeful And Inspired
tottefernandes1 July 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Okay, here is a review without the director's name:

Siya is a film that depicts the ordeal of a teenage girl who is gang-raped and tortured by a group of influential men, and her fight for justice with the help of her lawyer. The film is inspired by several real-life stories of rape survivors in India.

The film has powerful performances by the lead actors, who play the girl and her lawyer with conviction and sensitivity. The supporting cast also does a great job.

The film has a gripping script that keeps the audience engaged and invested in the girl's journey. The film does not shy away from showing the brutality and corruption that plague the Indian society, but also does not sensationalize or exploit the subject matter. The film has a strong social message that highlights the need for more awareness, sensitivity and accountability towards the issue of rape and violence against women in India.

Siya is a must-watch film for anyone who appreciates good cinema and cares about social justice. It is a film that will make you angry, sad, hopeful and inspired at the same time. It is a film that will make you think and feel.

However, the film falls short of delivering a satisfying conclusion for the audience. The film could have given a stronger message to the powerful people who mess with the system and oppress the oppressed. The film could have shown more consequences for the perpetrators and their allies, and more justice for the girl and her family. The film could have also shown more resistance and solidarity from the public and the media in support of the girl's cause.

Siya is a film that will stay with you long after you watch it, but it could have been more impactful if it had ended on a more positive note.
