Testosterone is produced in the adrenal gland of men and in the ovaries but at about one tenth the level that is produced in the testes. It is responsible for the the development of the male sex organs in the male fetus after which it is produced at minimal levels until puberty when it again produces dramatic changes to the male anatomy as described here.—David Foss
