Superlative vignettes from Nica Noelle
lor_1 May 2018
I greatly enjoyed watching this decade-old classic from Sweetheart Video after gorging myself on cutesy recent Stills & Mills lesbian porn -what a contrast! While current big-deals Bree & Alan ride high with facetious, even ridiculous situations to set up the inevitable and repetitious Sapphic sex, Nica Noelle was paying close attention to setting up real characters and having them behave believably -what novel concepts!

These four scenes all bear individual titles, in the anthology format. "Interview with a PSYCHOtherapist" (note the emphasis displayed on screen) turns out to be a job interview for shrink Rachel Steel, hoping to land a position working with the lady who's tops in the field, Nina Hartley. Nina is rather rude to Rachel and reveals that the meeting is a sham, just to get them together so that Nina can exact revenge on Rachel causing a patient Morgan to leave her lover Nina years ago, never to return.

The revenge is in the form of forced sex, and Rachel's resistance to Nina's sexual aggressiveness makes for some solid drama until she acquiesces, as all put-upon porn heroines seem to do.

The sex turns out to be just a daydream by Rachel, and that sets the rather rigid format for each of the vignettes: a situation develops into sex, but only in the mind of one of the participants.

A strong team of Samantha Ryan and Michelle Lay (two of Nica's favorite players) enact a familiar situation of one character privy to much more information than the other. Michelle is carrying on with Ryan's husband, even though she is Sam's best friend. Sam suspects her spouse is straying and visits BFF Michelle for comfort. Sexual comfort results, and Michelle never comes clean with her, giving the vignette a welcome edge.

The doyenne of Lesbian Cinema, Elexis Monroe is faced with the dilemma of her best friend Mia Lelani angry because EM iss"dating a guy that Mia was first interested in. Once more, female bonding saves the day and the title says it all: "No Guy Can Come Between Us". (By contrast, Stills & Mills' Girlsway label operates under the presumptuous and a bit silly tagline: "Every woman is a lesbian at heart".

Finale brings on the big guns in the form of Nicole Sheridan, a mainstream porn superstar who also comfortably plays the girl/girl role. She plays a fashion model photographer headed for a gig in Paris, so is subletting her home and Zoe Britton answers the ad. Seduction of the girl is easy (at least in Zoe's mind's eye -yet another wishful thinking sexual daydream) and the only thing wrong with this segment is that Zoe had yet to blossom, breast-wise: a few years later the Zoe/Nicole match-up could have been a battle of the big breasts.
