Quiver Distribution is premiering a new trailer aimed squarely at action fans this Monday. The Bandit trailer presents a film about seemingly ordinary men up to no good. Based on the remarkable true story of the Flying Bandit, the film stars Josh Duhamel, Elisha Cuthbert, and Mel Gibson. Allan Ungar directs from a script written by Kraig Wenman.
The Bandit trailer teases the story of Gilbert Galvan Jr. (Josh Duhamel), a charismatic career criminal who uses more disguises than Hitman’s Agent 47 to rob banks in broad daylight. As Gilbert tumbles deeper down a robbery-driven rabbit hole, he discovers that his obsession will lead to his life falling into chaos if he doesn’t walk away while the getting is good.
Here’s the official logline for Bandit:
In 1985, Gilbert Galvan Jr (Josh Duhamel), a charming career criminal, escapes from a US prison in Michigan and crosses the border into Canada,...

Brian Trenchard-Smith has, by his own estimation, directed "42 crimes against cinema"... which brings us to his latest filmmaking infraction, Drive Hard starring John Cusack and Thomas Jane.
From Rlj/Image Entertainment, Drive Hard will be available via VOD this week on September 4 and in theaters and on iTunes on October 3.
The action/adventure film was written by Brian along with Chad Law, Evan Law and Brigitte Jean Allen. Here's a synopsis:
With a heist in mind, a mysterious American called Keller (Cusack) arrives in Brisbane needing a getaway driver. Rather than recruit one from the local underworld, he tricks a driving school instructor, Roberts (Jane) into taking the wheel.
Keller chose well, Roberts just happens to be a washed out Formula-One driver. Chased by the cops and the mob, Roberts is forced to use his racing skills to evade pursuit on a Hard Drive that takes the two along the Gold Coast of Australia.

Brian Trenchard-Smith has been a director for 40 years and has made around the same amount of movies, from 1975’s George Lazenby-featuring action film The Man from Hong Kong through 1986’s cult film Dead End Drive-In to last year’s straight-to-dvd thriller Absolute Deception, which starred Cuba Gooding Jr. “I’ve never met a green-light I didn’t like,” chuckles the urbane auteur.

Anglo/Australian filmmaker Brian Trenchard-Smith is developing Sword Point, a drama about an injured Chinese gymnast who takes up fencing in a bid to realise her dream of representing China in sport.
The Los Angeles-based filmmaker and his producing partner Marty Fink are shopping the project to Chinese companies with a view to a mounting it as an Australian/Chinese co-production.
The sports-themed drama may seem far removed from the usual milieu of the writer-director whose credits include the action adventures BMX Bandits, The Man from Hong Kong and Stunt Rock, horror movies Turkey Shoot and Dead End Drive-in, and TV.s Flipper.
.I have no usual milieu if you look at my resume, GenresRUs; this will be a sports movie,. said the filmmaker who is on the Gold Coast shooting Hard Drive, an action comedy that stars John Cusack as a mysterious American who arrives in Brisbane, goes looking...

On Demand DVD New Releases June 10-16. Updated fairy tales (Oz the Great and Powerful, Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters) might make for an interesting double feature, though the latter is not rated for children, to be certain. Some 20 minutes of Patrick, director Mark Hartley.s re-imagining of Richard Franklin.s 1978 Australian psychological thriller, was screened for Us and international distributors at the Cannes Film Market.
Producer Antony I. Ginnane was pleased with the feedback and is hoping the film will be selected for the Toronto International Film Festival in October, which he believes would be the launch pad for a raft of sales.
In Cannes the international sales agent Bankside Films sold the pic, which stars Charles Dance, Sharni Vinson and Rachel Griffiths, to distributors in Turkey and the Middle East. Patrick will premiere at the Melbourne International Film Festival in July and will open in cinemas in October via Umbrella Entertainment.
Ginnane produced the original, which starred Robert Helpmann, Susan Penhaligon and Robert Thompson. It was a breakthrough for the producer as it was snapped up by theatrical distributors worldwide. It made a ton of money...

From the set of his latest, Deception!
Brian Trenchard-Smith may be our most prolific guru. He’s fresh back from Australia, where he shot…well, I’ll let Brian take it from here.
I have just returned from Surfers Paradise Australia where I was shooting Deception starring Cuba Gooding Jnr. & Emmanuelle Vaugier. They had great chemistry together and despite an ambitious schedule, cast and crew had fun.
I think fun is a key ingredient in film making. Dp Dan Macarthur was a real find, adept at a glossy look with minimal lights. And fast. With 2 Red Scarlets and a 5D we cranked out 93 images in one 10 hour day. Love that 4K Scarlet.
We had a lot of local co-operation too. Sanctuary Cove representatives on Australia’s Gold Coast were very helpful in providing high production value locations at affordable rates. (Try that in La.) Feel we got tremendous bang for the buck.
