Cynthia Khan under-rated classic!
Movie-Misfit17 July 2014
I have been waiting about 20 years to get my hands on Queens High. I had heard a lot about it, and as an avid fan of Miss Khan, I couldn't wait to see it!

I figured, as usual, she would be a cop out for revenge - in a wedding dress none-the-less from the look of the artwork, but I was wrong.

Cynthia plays the daughter of a big gangster who gets wrapped in a twisted game of dirty dealings and double crossings in this blue-print for Kill Bill...

Unlike her other action classics, the fights are quite spaced out, but the drama and acting is good enough to keep you watching until the butt kicking begins!

With the always impressive Simon Yam on board also, Queens High is a worthy film to add to your collection for all fans of the genre, stars and martial arts action. The end battle alone is just fantastic and has a more realistic feel to it than most of her other work!

Wait for the last half hour

Warning: Spoilers
QUEEN'S HIGH is a typical vehicle for actress Cynthia Khan, one of the biggest ass-kickers in Hong Kong in the late '80s. This one has a slightly lower budget than her '80s movies - by 1991 the industry was in decline - and for the first hour it's rather slow and unremarkable. Khan plays a daughter of a Triad family, with Kenneth Tsang her uncle and a youthful Simon Yam her brother. The usual rivalry plot plays out, with staged assassinations and the like keeping the viewer's interest; the wedding scene in particular utilises some effective slow motion. The good news is that the last half an hour packs in most of the film's action, with sprawling warehouse fights and shoot-outs and some good footwork from the reliable Billy Chow. It's certainly worth waiting for, and lifts the film to a good, if not great, status.
