In 1968, James Taylor signed a contract with the Beatles' burgeoning record label, Apple, making his self-titled debut LP the company's first release from a non-British artist. But securing that lucrative deal was intimidating for the then-unknown singer-songwriter, who auditioned for Paul McCartney and George Harrison. Taylor reflected on that nerve-racking experience with Seth Meyers on Thursday's Late Night, admitting he was "clinically nervous" as he played for half of the Fab Four.

San Francisco (AP) — Pop legend Paul McCartney is set to return to Candlestick Park to offer a swan song to the San Francisco 49ers' former stadium. McCartney's website posted a statement Thursday confirming that the former Beatle will perform on Aug. 14 at what is being billed as the last concert at Candlestick. His appearance became contentious last month when McCartney's worldwide concert promoter, Barrie Marshall, mentioned he had visited the 49ers' new Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara as part of negotiations about a possible opening concert there in August. The San Francisco Chronicle reports city officials felt slighted, since San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee had personally invited McCartney to close the "Stick." The Beatles played their final paid concert there in 1966. San Francisco's Recreation and Park Department Director Phil Ginsberg says the city's persistence helped seal the deal. Last year, to drum up interest for his new book, "Marvel Comics: The Untold Story" Sean Howe posted concept art that was created for a briefly-planned Silver Surfer movie. Which you can view on the right. The proposed movie was conceived by Hollywood film producer, Lee Kramer. This all happened around 1980, and at the time Kramer envisioned it as "an epic picture on the scope of 2001: A Space Odyssey with the kind of soundtrack that that film had, only using contemporary rock and roll." It also would've starred Kramer's then-girlfriend Olivia Newton-John ("Grease"). She would've played the Surfer's girlfriend. While that didn't materialize, Kramer did book Newton-John in his fantasy-musical, 1980's Xanadu. So, people were quick to post the concept art, but most missed Sean Howe's update that revealed Kramer approaching legendary singer/songwriter, Paul McCartney. Kramer apparently wanted McCartney, founding member of The Beatles, to score his Silver Surfer movie.

As the legend goes, twenty one years ago this month, in a ballsy power move that would forever change comics, comic book all stars Todd McFarlane, Rob Liefeld, Jim Lee, Marc Silvestri, Erik Larsen, Whilce Portacio, and Jim Valentino left Marvel Comics to form their own comic book publishing company called Image. As a response to years of creator mistreatment at the time and given maybe six months to live, twenty years later Image Comics continues to influence mainstream comics and popular culture to this very day.
Hot documentary The Image Revolution tells the story of Image Comics, from its founders’ work at Marvel, through Image’s early days, the ups and downs of the ’90s, and the publisher’s new generation of properties like The Walking Dead.
The Image Revolution is an absolute Must Watch for comic book fans, and in my opinion one of the best documentaries of the year.

Some fans of The Beatles are angry to this day with Yoko Ono for her possible role in the band's breakup. But Paul McCartney himself, whose feud with John Lennon's widow has played out in the public eye for decades now, is burying the hatchet. In an interview with Rolling Stone's November issue, the 71-year-old musician calls Ono "a badass" and explains why he's moved on. "I thought, 'If John loved her, there's got to be something. He's not stupid,'" McCartney says. "It's like, what are you going to do? Are you going to hold a grudge you never really had?" McCartney reasons that if fellow Beatle George Harrison were still alive, he'd encourage...

1969 was the year the music died, or, at least, the year The Beatles ended. The iconic British boy group disbanded in the late '60s, and many blamed John Lennon's wife Yoko Ono's influence. Beatles frontman Paul McCartney has publicly had a tense relationship with Ono, 80, but in the November cover story for Rolling Stone, McCartney, 71, ended the feud once and for all. Calling his former bandmate's wife a certified "badass," McCartney talked about his struggle with his feelings toward Ono. "I thought, 'If John loved [...]...

Los Angeles, Oct 12: Musician Paul McCartney has accused The Rolling Stones of climbing the ladder of success by copying The Beatles.
One of the Rolling Stones' earliest singles, "I Wanna Be Your Man", was written by McCartney and John Lennon, and the band broke America a year after the Fab Four.
MCCartney also gave an example of Sir Mick Jagger and Keith Richards' wizard outfits in 1967 album "Their Satanic Majesties Request" as proof of their Beatles imitation, reports contactmusic.com.
"That is the truth. Look at the history: The Beatles go to America, a year later they come too. We wrote their first single (sic), I Wanna Be Your Man. We go psychedelic, they go psychedelic. We dress as wizards, they dress as wizards,".

Paul McCartney made a detour from the promotional tour for his latest album to drop in on the lucky kids at Astoria’s Frank Sinatra School of the Arts. The former Beatle played the youngsters songs off the aptly titled New as well as some he’d written with “George Harrison of the Beatles” — according to the New York Times, specification was necessary since the student there are sooo young. Despite the surprise element of McCartney’s drop-in, ten kids were prepared with questions ranging from why his collaborations with John Lennon were so successful (“We didn’t want to do the same thing twice”) to the most important lesson he's learned (people don’t mind if you make mistakes on stage). The 71-year-old also explained how fame affected his musical evolution: “The thing that fame does is it gives you freedom. So you start off doing stuff that you...
