The Road Back is a short dramatic film written, created and directed by Maine Youth that addresses the challenges faced by adolescents when living with depression and/or anxiety. The goal of the film is to educate young people and those who live and work with them about the human aspect of mental illness/mental health in order to decrease the stigma surrounding these illnesses. Research shows that early access to treatment is critical to long-term positive treatment outcomes, and this film seeks to remove one of the major barriers to seeking help, stigma. The final product is being distributed, free of charge, to interested middle and high school in Maine, and will be available for purchase for use by schools/organizations outside the state.
