After the Germans totally destroyed Warsaw, it was rebuilt after WWII in different architectural styles. Old blueprints were used to rebuild the Old Town, but it wasn't possible to completely recreate the historic city centre.
London was re-built in stages after 1945. The Barbican was a major construction project with cinemas, theatres and housing that began in 1962. But it would take until 1982 before the district was officially inaugurated by the Queen.
