I think this show is really interesting, because the contestants are doing real things, not goofy stuff like standing on one foot the longest. I wish the camera spent more time on watching the work going on. I really wish the interior designer thay hired did not lean towards such lurid, busy color schemes that no one could actually live with for long. Bile green and the strongest yellow I have ever seen do not make for comfort or elegance.

Had potential, but way too hard to follow, no second season

Following on the heels of Masterchef (the Australian version), Channel 10 commissioned The Renovators with much fanfare back in 2011. The promos were constant and it was much ballyhooed. But it was a bit of a letdown because it didn't have the same level of excitement and suspense as Masterchef, and the challenges were a bit drawn-out and no real objectivity in determining the winner.
For example there was one challenge where a female contestant got the keys and won, which was great, but then later she lost the keys for some unknown rule reason.
Channel 10 promised to bring this back for a second season but the tumbleweeds are flowing and there's no season season. Who knows, maybe it can be retooled (pardon the pun) for another time.
A few years ago Facebook was always abuzz with fan comment whenever Masterchef Australia screened, with comments posted every second. But with The Renovators, there were hardly any Facebook comments. I guess that was indicative of the excitement the show generated.
