Reflecting and Shedding Tears over the Interplay of Father-Son and Friendships"
chenweizhetpe18 September 2023
The emotional power of this film is immense. It comes to a halt at the most challenging moments for the characters, as if the storyline can't move forward in the face of unsolvable dilemmas.

While you can pick out quirks in the dialogue and find elements of the plot design that resemble the work of a novice, we immerse ourselves in the movie with our eyes, ears, and senses, experiencing the relationships between the characters that are incredibly genuine and moving. Who wouldn't fall in love with such a stubborn yet sincere child? The expressions of emotion, somewhere between friendship and father-son bonds, are so pure and unforgettable that I gradually forget about those shortcomings.

A new angle on a common issue

Warning: Spoilers
This movie touches several layers of relationship issues between fathers and children. The main character, being adopted himself, was not able to become close to his stepfather and left home at an early age. Years later, he finds himself at the other side of the problem - the woman he loves has a child. It was heartbreaking to hear how she had to hide her child to have a shot a romantic relationship. Now, it is the main character's turn to wonder if this child will be able accept a stepfather. An unexpected meeting during this time helps the main character to see how children are becoming innocent victims of adult relationships. Additionally, this movie provides an amazingly authentic insight into rural life in Mongolia. The beauty of the land is mesmerizing.
