Catherine Cyran, an Emmy-nominated director, producer and writer, died on Dec. 24. She was 59.
The filmmaker, known for three installments of the Prince & Me franchise, died in Vancouver, B.C., following a battle with cancer, a rep confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter.
Before beginning her career in film, the Brooklyn native graduated from Harvard and moved to London for the Royal Shakespeare Company as a management consultant. Once she returned to the United States, she worked as a political issue advisor for some campaigns in Massachusetts and also went to Stanford Business School for a bit.
Eventually, Cyran decided to move her life to Los Angeles to pursue filmmaking. She started by working under prolific filmmaker Roger Corman, writing and producing low-budget movies, including A Cry in the Wild, Slumber Party Massacre III and Bloodfist II.

Cyran's name may not be easily recognizable, but her legacy will live on in a varied career spanning multiple mediums and genres. Catherine Cyran, the Daytime Emmy-nominated director of more than 20 features, died on Christmas Eve, according to multiple Facebook posts from those close to her. While a cause of death has not yet been reported, she was 59.

Sarah plays a character named Anna, who returns to her family home for the holidays only to discover her dear grandfather, who they call Nono, is more advanced in his Alzheimer's than she expected.
When Anna learns the best thing for Nono is to stimulate his mind, she begins working with him to recover her grandmother's lost pasta sauce recipe.
Sarah understands the importance of family, as she's raising a three-and-a-half-year-old daughter. She joked that she tells anyone who asks that "this is my favorite age."
