Great short film

Warning: Spoilers
I have to say I loved this when I saw it at the Jameson Film Festival. It's not a film about rhinos for a start, but is a beautifully shot short with a very moving storyline. Boy meets girl, girl meets boy, neither understand each other, but they communicate nonetheless. The two leads are excellent and you are left rooting for them as the story unfolds. Not without humour either and I love that it doesn't take itself too seriously. There is a great soundtrack too which suits the movie perfectly. It's a simple story, but impeccably told. There is a real chemistry between the two leads and it is this which gives the film real kudos. The story is much more believable when you see them together. I'd strongly recommend this to people interested in good stories and also how a really good short should be done

Only regret is that it's not a full length film

The acting, camera work, and really everything that goes into making this short film is perfect and equivalent for a full length movie, with these two actors alone. The initial meeting with her being such an extrovert and him so introverted, yet in the end finding out their truths is so touching. This could really be a great full length film! What I saw was great and says so much in so little time so no complaints there. I just see so much more potential from exactly the same directors, writers, music, film crew, and actors, would be a 5 star indie film

magic

A friendship story . So seductive than, after its end, it remains in memory, for a time, as a sort of flavor. Two young people speaking different languages. Discovering each to other in simple and seductive manner, against differences. A refreshing film for the wise manner to remind the magic of little and significant things defining us. All is admirable, from story to the beautiful performances. And the romanticism of it, it is so... real, real cool. So, see it ! Twice, maybe ! Not as a good short film but as a cup of refreshing discover of roots of joy.

Only the untrained eye can like it

Warning: Spoilers
"Rhinos" is an award-winning 15-minute short film from 2012, so this one will have its 5th anniversary next year. It is among the more known works by Irish filmmaker Shimmy Marcus and he is the main reason why this is an English language film despite the inclusion of German-Turkish actress Aylin Tezel. And while I like her, I must say I was underwhelmed by the entire thing here. One quirky character, one reserved character, but both offer almost no depth for the actors. You cannot blame the duo for this film turning into a disappointment. I guess you need to blame Marcus because he wrote the story. We have a woman struggling with her boyfriend. She keeps screaming and shouting and strangely enough a few minutes later she is joking around like a little girl because of a complete stranger she met. I am referring to the monkey impersonation here. And how are we supposed to like or feel for a man who checks a stranger's telephone for a message that is absolutely none of his business. There are more problems like these and eventually this film comes pretty short. The only moment I liked was the Linklater/Hawke/Delpy reference, but this was also only because I really adore their cooperations. Well.. Tezel's looks and physicality deserve much more than a 4/10, but sadly this film does not because in my opinion the entire thing did not feel realistic at all. I also don't like the random title. Don't watch.
