Great Coming-of-age story!
Hanson-Hawk-Studios22 September 2014
Warning: Spoilers
I was very impressed by Daniel Sovich and his portrayal of 14 year old boy who secretly knows he's different, but fears rejection by both family and friends. I appreciate Peter Anthony Fields attempt at exposing societies shortcomings and believe this, and films like it will not only help these young boys and girls understand themselves, but help others. Reaction by family and peers are true and to the point. The main message I take back from this is "Honesty and Acceptance". I was distracted by the poor production quality and the obvious Low Budget devoted to this project. The lack of experience by cast members was obvious, however, a story like this needs to be told and I don't see the major writers, directors or producers stepping up to the plate. Maybe if they did, it wouldn't be so hard to find this type of film. Great Job! I recommend this movie to all.

Heartwarming...

When I first sat down to watch this film (which I happened upon by accident!) I wasn't impressed at first. I found the acting a little staid, the premise of the story all too cliché and the pace of the film a little too slow....

However, I must confess that I was to be proved wrong! I found myself identifying with Daniel Sovich's tearjerking portrayal of a young lad coming out in a Christian household and it was so believable towards the end that I must have caused a sharp spike in share prices for the company that produces my tissues! Beautifully acted by a gorgeous young man, dealing with such a maligned, sensitive topic.

Daniel Sovich, thank you. You've brought the issue of hormones, sexuality and bigotry to the fore magnificently and I look forward to seeing future performances by you, no matter what the subject content.

May your career be as beautiful as you are!

A very positive movie
Irishchatter4 April 2015
Warning: Spoilers
I'm literally serious, this is a very positive movie. I'm saying this because young Ian was so brave for standing up for himself at his age! Although he did go into a coma when the mother found out at first that he was gay. I mean she should really see the councilleor really since Ian really isn't causing any harm.

Like that guy in that LGBT centre in which Ian and his friends went to, only murderers and perverts ruin people's lives but being a gay person does not ruin lives, it's meant to mean 'love not hate'. Unfortunately in this society we live in, there's always gonna be bad talk about same sex relationships.

This movie is very good, please watch it!

Heartwarming yet Heartbreaking

Watching this short you have to look beyond the acting which, is perhaps not the best and through to the storyline. An incredibly difficult topic for any young boy to approach in real life, at 14 the character Ian is being torn apart by what he knows to be something which will shatter his Mom. All he wants in the world is to continue to be the apple of his Mom's eye. Her response to his coming out as Gay tears him apart. I shed many tears for him while watching this film and personally remember facing similar reaction to my own coming out. I felt every minute of this short film and, for an actor so young to be able to carry this off with such realism is simply amazing. I think this young man has a tremendous future ahead of him. Thank you Daniel for carrying this off so well.

Good story, good message, bad acting
boyle-phillip4 February 2013
Among some poor script writing and horrendous acting, the main character (played by Daniel Sovich) was able to shine through. Personally, I thought his acting was best (or better) than the rest of the cast and he did a good job of playing a teen struggling with his sexual orientation.

I've mentored to a lot of kids over the years and this movie definitely points out some of the common things parents will do that only compound a teen's misgivings.

If you know any teens struggling with who they are and have parents that aren't very supportive, this would be an excellent movie to see and discuss.

Daniel Sovich

delicate subject, interesting script. only great problem - the performance. the great virtue - the presence of Daniel Sovich. he gives force, emotion and force of fragility to entire film. and his work is really admirable. and it seems be enough for a film who remains special for the science to portray the tension, fear and questions of a teenager front with his sexuality. the speech is careful and precise. the nuances - credible. the problem - far to be easy for viewer when he knows well the storm of soul grace of his experience. only regret - it can be better. but , you can say than is only the occasion for young Sovich to begin a wonderful career.

about solitude
Kirpianuscus29 June 2017
a film who deserves many critics. but it is far to be a chain of clichés or a well known story as variation or not the most convincing acting. it is just one of stories inside yourself. not for the problems about sexual orientation but about the relation with the others. because, for many of us, it is the same story. the refuge and the instinct, the need to escape from yourself and the manner to be yourself. against expectations. "A Silent Truth" has, for me, two virtues - the honesty and the sensitive manner to present a case with universal significance. this is all. because, about the solitude, not the words work.
