From an idea, to the script, to filming and finally making its way to the big screen, every movie starts with a great story. The cinematic stories of 2015 inundated audiences with inspiring tales of compassion, happiness, courage and love while being spread over the various genres.
Moviegoers saw the rise of Nwa, true stories of an ongoing cover-up and the economic catastrophe whose effects are still being felt today, journeys of harsh survival but also ones of inspirational hope – both here on earth and on distant worlds – and a re-imaging of the beauty and chaos of the post-apocalyptic world that is Mad Max. Even the new story about Rocky Balboa proved to be a fascinating one as we watched the torch being passed to a new generation. We couldn’t help but feel a whimsy of nostalgia from a visit back to Philadelphia as well as to that Galaxy Far Far Away.

We’re getting a clearer picture of what TV’s S.H.I.E.L.D. is shaping up to be. That picture now includes actors Elizabeth Henstridge and Iain De Caestecker and their young, fresh faces. The prospect of a Marvel flavored TV adaptation is still intensely exciting to me. With a name like Joss Whedon behind the series, I’d say there’s a good chance it won’t get flubbed up, either.
So, the ABC Studios project will revolve around the Strategic Hazard Intervention Espionage Logistic Directorate, or S.H.I.E.L.D., which is the military law-enforcement agency expected to police super heroes.
Actress Elizabeth Henstridge will play a science genius by the name of Agent Gemma Simmons, THR revealed. She’s joined by Iain De Caestecker, who is all geared up to portray Agent Leo Fitz. Fitz is your techie type, probably not unlike Q from the James Bond series.

ABC has recruited two new agents for Joss Whedon’s S.H.I.E.L.D. pilot.
Elizabeth Henstridge and Iain De Caestecker have both been cast in the project, joining Ming-Na, who was cast in a lead role last month.
Henstridge, who last year booked a role on the J.J. Abrams’ CW pilot Shelter, joins as Agent Gemma Simmons, while De Caestrecker will play Agent Leo Fitz.
The much-anticipated project, which centers on superspy operation established in the Marvel universe, received a pilot order from ABC back in August.
THR first reported the casting.

Joss Whedon’s S.H.I.E.L.D. pilot is coming along very nicely, with production recently reported to be getting underway in January.
Clark Gregg was the brilliant first announcement to be joining the pilot, swiftly followed by Ming-Na, and now THR report that two new agents have been found, in the form of Elizabeth Henstridge and Iain De Caestecker.
“Henstridge will play science whiz Agent Gemma Simmons, while De Caestecker will play Agent Leo Fitz, a technology guru. The duo spend all their time together – mostly bickering – and are masters of their respective fields at a remarkably young age.”
I was rather hoping that De Caestecker’s role might go to Fran Kranz, who was absolutely immense in a similar role on Dollhouse. But here’s to hoping that Kranz will return to work with Whedon on this in a different capacity.

U.K. actors Elizabeth Henstridge and Iain De Caestecker are the latest additions to Joss Whedon's hotly anticipated pilot "Marvel's S.H.I.E.L.D."
The pair will play bickering young prodigies Agent Gemma Simmons and Agent Leo Fitz -- a.k.a. "FitzSimmons" according to the series' casting breakdown. They join a growing ensemble that already boasts "ER" vet Ming-Na Wen and Clark Gregg, who reprises his role of Agent Phil Coulson from various Marvel movies including "The Avengers."
"S.H.I.E.L.D.," which is set up at ABC Studios, will tell stories from the same universe as Marvel's blockbuster films but specifics about the series are being closely guarded. "Avengers" director Whedon will also direct the pilot, which he co-wrote with brother Jed Whedon and sister-in-law Maurissa Tancharoen.

The Fall TV Season presentations for all the new network shows take place this week with the fifth and final one announced. Here's a full breakdown of which concepts have made the final list over on The CW.
With "Hart of Dixie" last season's sole surviving new show and "Gossip Girl" finishing up with a short final season this coming Fall, The CW is pushing hard on original content this season with five new shows ordered as opposed to the regular two or three. There's also a bunch of timeslot changes with "The Vampire Diaries" the sole show to have not changed its place on the network's schedule.
The additions have allowed the sub-35 skewering network to essentially have theme nights - prime-time soaps on Mondays, quirky medical dramas on Tuesdays, male-dominated genre action shows on Wednesdays, and female-oriented supernatural romancers on Thursdays.

Tonight we say goodbye to "One Tree Hill" after nine years on the air, but the cast and crew said goodbye in mid-November when picture wrapped on the 187th episode in Wilmington, Nc. Now, over four months later, creator Mark Schwahn and the cast we've come to think of as friends have moved on to new projects.
We realize that emotions are still raw right now, but when you're ready -- here's where you can find those familiar faces.
Mark Schwahn: Schwahn is currently back in North Carolina overseeing production on his pilot, "Shelter," which is a contender for The CW's Fall 2012 schedule. The pilot, which he's executive producing with J.J. Abrams, will certainly appeal to "One Tree Hill" fans -- it's an old-school WB feel, an undeniable earnestness, and the same themes of hope and friendship that we saw on Oth.

One Tree Hill wraps up nine emotional seasons Wednesday night with a two-hour series finale on the CW. I’ll admit that it really will be hard to say goodbye.
I was a high school freshman when One Tree Hill debuted on the then-wb network in September 2003. Like brainy Haley James Scott (Bethany Joy Galeotti) and baby-faced Lucas Scott (Chad Michael Murray), I was navigating my way through teen angst. I tuned in because I had a Dawson’s Creek-size hole in my schedule and I would do just about anything not to do my English homework.

Vampire Diaries’ Malese Jow and Make It Or Break It’s Zachary Abel Land at CW
While every other pilot project had found its leading men and women, the CW’s drama pilot Shelter (from the minds of J.J. Abrams and Once Tree Hill creator Mark Schwahn) was still struggling to find the right man and woman to help bring this show to life. All worries can now be set aside. Zachary Able (Make It Or Break It) and Malese Jow (The Vampire Diaries) have both been cast. I bet the producers breathed a big sigh of relief when they finally made the decision to hire these two. To be the last pilot to find its leads seems like a stressful situation to be in. After all, you can’t film the show until you have stars!
Deadline confirmed the casting of Abel and Jow for the Warner Bros. TV produced pilot.

Mulroney is set to play Jeff Flender, an investigative reporter-turned-love interest for Amy (Laura Dern), who wants help bringing her corrupt employer, Abaddonn Industries, down. Mulroney joins previously announced "Enlightened" Season 2 guest star Molly Shannon.

The CW's "Shelter" pilot is rounding out its cast. As if we didn't already love the script enough, executive producers J.J. Abrams and Mark Schwahn have now chosen Malese Jow -- one of our favorites -- to play Morgan, a 22-year-old "party girl" type who works at the Shelter Bay Inn.
Best known for her role as teen vampire Anna on "Vampire Diaries" and Lucy on Nickelodeon's "Big Time Rush," this role is definitely a more adult turn for Jow. Let's just say Morgan's reputation for promiscuity isn't exactly unfounded. Homegirl likes to spread the wealth.
In fact, one of her lust interests is faded rocker Tyler Green, played by fellow "Vampire Diaries" alum Trent Ford -- though the two never shared scenes together on "Tvd."
"Shelter" is shooting in North Carolina. The casting was first reported by Deadline.

Every year, the five major broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, The CW, Fox and NBC) order pilots to be considered for the fall season. A pilot, as you may know, is the first episode of a TV series and the final step in a long development process from idea to screen.
From the 87 drama and comedy pilots ordered this year, a new crop of television shows will be selected -- and I read the scripts for each and every one of them. Over the course of this week, I'm walking you through the network's pilot slates, offering a bit of analysis on their present schedules and providing you with a rundown of the drama contenders. (Plus, a little bit of info about the comedies, too.) Of course, not all of these shows will find their way to your TV set -- in fact, most of them you may never hear of again.

Filming starts in just a few days, and The CW's "Shelter" pilot, from "One Tree Hill" scribe Mark Schwahn and J.J. Abrams, has finally found its lead. Zap2it has learned that Christopher Marrone has been cast as series lead Mitch Taylor, a 23-year-old athlete who comes home for the summer hoping to reconnect with the girl he's been pining after all year.
Marrone's acting reel is below. "Shelter" will be his first television project; though he's got a couple of shorts and bit roles under his belt. Schwahn and Abrams have thus far assembled a cast of relative unknowns -- an interesting choice given that The CW has tended toward experienced talent in casting its other pilots.

The Cape star David Lyons has been cast in the Jj Abrams/Eric Kripke NBC drama pilot, directed by Jon Favreau, about a group of survivors in a world where all forms of energy have mysteriously ceased to exist. He will play the charismatic Marine Bass, a role which became vacant after Billy Burke, who was originally cast in the role, was just promoted to play the lead Miles. Burke’s deal for that has now closed. Also cast in the pilot is Maria Howell in the supporting role of the regal and fiercely intelligent Grace. Trent Ford (The Vampire Diaries) has been cast in a supporting role in another Abrams-produced drama pilot, the CW’s Shelter, set at an historic New England summer resort. Ford, repped by Global Artists Agency and Luber Roklin, will play Tyler Green, a former British rock star staying in the penthouse at the Shelter Bay Inn.

You've already checked out the pilot line up for CBS, ABC, Fox, and NBC. And now... the little network that could.
The CW is sticking with what it knows best this season: Hour-long dramas directed at young and/or genre-friendly audiences, with plenty of Josh Schwartz in the mix. Five of the eight contenders are adapted, be it from comic books, other shows, or novels, guaranteeing a built in audience and a fair share of built in skepticism.
We've got your CW 2012-2013 cheat sheet below. Which do you think you're most likely to tune in for on premiere night?
"Arrow": No, it's not a "Smallville" spin-off. Stephen Amell will star as Oliver Queen in this remaining of the DC superhero, led by Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim, and Andrew Kreisberg. Katie Cassidy stars as his love interest and old flame (and Black Canary), with Willa Holland as his sister.

Say what you will about "One Tree Hill's" often outlandish storylines and occasionally overwrought melodrama, but when it comes down to it, a network television drama that lasts nine years is nothing to shake a stick at. It's no surprise that The CW is looking to stay in business with creator Mark Schwahn, whose J.J. Abrams-produced pilot "Shelter" is a contender for the fall schedule.
One of our favorite pilot scripts of the season, "Shelter" centers on a summer resort in Shelter Bay, Maine. Returning staffer Mitch, a mischievous young dreamer (aren't they all?), comes home to Shelter for the summer in the hopes of reuniting with a former love interest, but instead, new romances and rivalries spark.
Though Mitch has yet to be cast -- we're hearing Schwahn is looking for a "young Channing Tatum" type -- Hannah New was cast this week as female romantic lead Kathryn Gilchrist,...

Exclusive: I Hate My Teenage Daughter star Jaime Pressly is making a dramatic turn with a co-starring role in NBC’s drama pilot Bad Girls. Adapted from the long-running UK series, the John Wells/Warner Bros. TV project follows the ins and outs of a group of unlikely women in a federal prison. Pressly will play prison warden Melinda, a sexy, ominous woman with a sadistic streak enjoying cat-and-mouse games with her inmates who are terrified by her. The project is formally in second position to Fox’s Teenage Daughter, which also is produced by Warner Bros. The freshman comedy has been de facto cancelled after Fox pulled it from the schedule earlier this week. This marks Pressly’s return to NBC where she co-starred on comedy My Name Is Earl, which earned her an Emmy. Newcomer Hannah New and Eka Darville have landed lead roles in the CW’s...
