Here's the plot, so you don't have to watch
callahans2028 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I give all my Lifetime movies 5-star reviews. No Lifetime movie will ever win an Oscar, but neither are most of them the complete schlock 1-star reviewers say they are. This one is no exception.

So, here's the movie, in a nutshell: It's Secret Brother Day on Lifetime. All day. Every movie. Right away, you have the basic plot. Or do you?

It's a troubled marriage. Husband and wife (wannabe novelist/successful jingle writer) squabble before going kayaking on a river. He paddles off in a huff without her and disappears. She calls the police, who conduct a fruitless search. The husband walks into an emergency room a week later with no memory of what happened to him. He's a different guy. It's almost like he's an identical but evil secret twin or something! He fudges on stuff he should remember or manages to turn his lack of actual knowledge into weird compliments. Worse, he can cook! And he's super-horny, all the freaking time. The wife knows something is off.

There is a lawyer, murdered early in the movie for reasons that totally escaped me by someone we never see (my attention may have wandered for a moment, which is sometimes all it takes in a Lifetime movie--sorry.)

There is a female stalker (as there almost always is in this particular plot, although she turns out to be a "court-appointed psychiatrist".) She confronts the wife in the garage and says, "check his right ankle" before vanishing. There is a tattoo he never had before. Oh no! She tricks the obvious imposter with a previously unliked western omelette calls the stalker/psychiatrist, who kindly left her number. He's a fraud! He's an evil psychotic hitherto missing unknown twin! But can we call the police?!?! Nooooo..... they would never believe this, not even from his court-appointed psychiatrist. So the wife sticks with the stalker/psychiatrist, whom she secretly witnesses being assaulted by the wicked twin. The wife takes her for a coffee, as you do. They decide to stalk the husband. The wife finds a key to a storage unit and they check it out. OMG!! Her dead husband is in it! Just. Don't. Touch. Him. They leave to call the cops (I know these women have cell phones--they're always using them--but for whatever reason, they leave. Separately.)

There is a reasonably competent detective. Stern, no nonsense, but not a jerk. Don't see enough of him. He gets the call to the storage unit. Surprise, surprise, no body. The cops find the psychiatrist. She denies having ever met the wife and knows zipola about the unit or a body. And she's a massage therapist. And there is no tattoo on hubby's right ankle. Let's lock the crazy wife in the nuthouse, because, of course!

Because what evil twin wants is conservatorship over his wife's company that's about to go public. The wife gets wind of the plan and bails out of the police station. Only she goes home and catches the stalker and the evil twin in flagrante delicto, or just about. She charges in and gets caught, hears the whole evil plan, and realizes there is no evil twin, this is her dear husband who just wants all the money and a cute, malleable massage therapist. She brains him with a baseball bat, and the stalker/court-appointed psychiatrist/massage therapist turns state's evidence. The wife sells the company for a tidy profit and finally finishes her novel. The end.

All I can say is, I'm shocked Eric Roberts wasn't cast as the murdered lawyer. That would have made this movie perfect.

But there was never any proof!
lymullen30 January 2024
This was pretty good for a Lifetime mystery/thriller. I didn't find it predictable at all, and was surprised by the twists all the way up to the end.

The only problem I had with this movie is that throughout the entire thing, Katrina never had one shred of actual proof. She had her own eyewitness account, but it was still her word against theirs, and there was already a question of her sanity.

Even at the end, where was the proof that any crime had been committed, especially since as other reviewers pointed out, the part about the attorney was just dropped.

I thought the cop was going to come in with some breakthrough information, but nope. He only showed up at the house when he noticed Katrina escaped from the little holding room. Still with absolutely no proof, the cop at the end says "I still can't believe everything you were saying was true..."

Also if the cops put everybody who appears delusional in for a 72 hour hold, the hospitals would be overflowing. Katrina was raving, but not a danger to herself or anyone else.

But aside from those plot holes the story was pretty good.

Fail, offensive
holograf1 October 2023
Sorry guys, you missed the mark on this one. Slow moving, drawn out scenes due to thin storyline, disjointed, predictable, offensive, and unappealing leads. The only appealing character, a lawyer, was quickly written out of the story. There was one line that was quite offensive. It was spoken by a black character who ran a kayak shop "I am normally loathe to involve the boys in blue, but..." why would she ever be "loathe" to involve cops? Is Lifetime endorsing the belief that cops seek to hurt innocent people? Why would you include a line like that in a Lifetime movie? I'm going to have to take a break from Lifetime after this fail.

Amateurish
VintageSoul5624 July 2023
How the other three reviewers gave the sophomoric Lifetime movie 7 and above stars, I will never know. I can only think that the reviewer's had something to do with the production and they were trying to promote it. Terrible script, high school drama class acting and the same annoying Lifetime movie music that is in every Lifetime movie. I lost one of my 10 borrowing credits on my library account borrowing. To be fair, I thought that reading the plot and the reviews, it would be a decent movie. Lifetime and Hallmark are rather tiresome. That's why I don't normally watch them.

The plot is one that has been done over and over. There were no plot twists as indicated. You can pretty much figure it out when the husband shows back up. Watch the 1944 version of "Gaslight" instead. Now, there's a movie.

I did watch Koko Marshall's demo reel and she's good in clips of her other movies, but this one, no, she wasn't. She, Thomas Gipson, Katie Page and Benjamin David Dennis were not convincing at all. I watched Benjamin David Dennis' demo reel too and he is quite good. Just not in this movie. I do blame part of it on the director and I presume, tight budget. The house was nice though.

Anyway, don't waste your time or don't pay the Prime price to watch this very amateurish attempt at a thriller. Luckily, I only wasted a library credit on this.

Another must watch in fast forward mode movie
cuteusbelleus29 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Would have been decent if: they would have acknowledged the dead lawyer, the police was called from the storage unit/crime scene if the door was not going to be closed🙄, the dead body smelled as it should, if Katrina didn't turn a major klutz at the end by moving without looking and tripping excessively while running!

Other than that, use the FF button to speed through the annoying, predictable parts.

I must admit Katrina's character was the best acted in the movie, and is not her fault they gave her idiotic scenes that made her act more dumb than insane.

I seem to remember a time when Lifetime movies were good more often than not.

THESE IDIOTS FROM BLUE BALLS!!!😡
sandersanthony-3982527 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I just literally watched this whole dumb stupid idiotic garbage suspect movie yesterday with my mother, and it was TERRIBLE!!!😡👎🏻 I can't believe I was a total idiot to watch this another stupid ridiculous suspect movie!!😠

It first started out a stupid woman named Katrina inviting her sick roughly husband Heath who his parents were killed on a Kaiak travel, when her husband went missing, and moments later, she found him. And when they are reunited for a while, and redhead women who is a psychiatrist came to Katrina and said to her that her life is in danger. And moments later, Katrina came to her, and said to her that his real name is Jacob, which showed her the picture of the newborn babies who are Heath and Jacob meaning they are twins. So the redhead girl is helping Katrina to find Heath, looked at the Tattoo of Jacob's left ankle, and they found Heath dead. That is until the body is gone and Katrina went to the redhead girl, SHE LITERALLY STUPIDLY FORGOT EVERYTHING ABOUT KATRINA AND THE DEATH LAWYER!!!😡 And then the Detective doesn't believe in her! And when the Detective asked him to show his tattoo on his ankle, THE TATTOO IS GONE!! How can it be possible if tattoos are totally stuck on their skins?!😠 And then a few moments later, she went out to spy on Jacob and saw the redhead girl with Jacob meaning they are together! And then Katrina stupidly idiotically knocked down a flowerpot which literally blowed her own cover, and immediately got kidnapped!😠 And when Katrina is captured, she realized that Jacob is actually Heath for real, and that dumb redhead girl has no idea how Katrina gets in their house! This makes sense now that Heath is the one who killed his parents, and that dead body Katrina and that dumb crazy redhead girl found in the basement, was actually Heath playing dead! And that picture of the newborn babies of Heath and Jacob, WAS A FAKE!! So, Katrina freed herself, and defeated the sick couple, as Heath goes to jail, and that crazy hoer redhead girl to the hospital!😠 AND THAT'S WHEN THE MOVIE ENDED TERRIBLE!!!😡👎🏻

This is literally the worst movie I and my mom had ever watched! We are never watching another dumb stupid ridiculous suspect movie EVER AGAIN!!😡 And now may I just say to that idiotic director and his idiotic actors after watching this garbage movie; "GOD DAMNIT!!! This movie is terrible! THESE IDIOTS FROM BLUE BALLS!!!😡 These idiots from Blue Balls Entertainment! They're idiots!😠"

Did they just forget about the dead lawyer???
hvzwrzdf21 May 2023
This movie had some merit but honestly, if you thought the husband drowned why is the kayak and his lifevest on the shore??? It was a little too easy to guess what was really going on. But did the editors forget that they had a murdered attorney??? What was the point of murdering the lawyer? After murdering him we never see him found or anything. It's like someone edited the movie but forgot all about the dead lawyer. This will now haunt me until someone else says yeah what about the dead lawyer???

Also, it was a clear clue when this woman pops up to collaborate with the wife but tells her not to talk to the police. And on and on with lame clues.

This reminds me of...
Bonita7230 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Nice movie with twists, but predictable especially when the unknown woman doesn't let Katrina to go to the Police and when she also doesn't let her touch her dead husband's body.

As for the actors and actresses, Koko Marshall was very good at her role and Katie Page was also good at her small part. Thomas Gipson, as the husband, was just O. K.

The story has some very good moments, but it is not original. This reminds me of a Robert Thomas play titled "Double jeu" which means "Double game" written in France in 1970. The play became a hit and was played worldwide in theaters, cinemas and television.

Finally, A Great New Lifetime Movie
hoops-5343622 May 2023
It's about time. We have been watching and hoping for one of the 2023 releases to be good and we have been utterly disappointed...until now. This was a very good movie with a very good plot- and a couple of twists that kept even us guessing right up until the end.

The movie held our attention all the way through and we were as baffled by the twists as Katrina was. Katie Page did an excellent job of playing the two faced mistress and I was stunned when she turned out to be not the person Katrina and I thought she was.

This is a must watch movie, although it would not be good a second time through as all the twists would be known. Watch it!

Katrina's Hurricane
lavatch21 May 2023
Warning: Spoilers
"The Man With My Husband's Face" was a cleverly constructed thriller. Katrina Grierson is an aspiring novelist who has failed to complete her first novel after ten years. But she is a successful writer of pop-up jingles for a thriving new ap.

Katrina has an uneven marriage with her husband Heath and is even contemplating divorce. Then, Heath suddenly disappears during a kayak outing. When he resurfaces, there is the possibility that it is an imposter with whom Katrina is living under the same roof.

Koko Marshall was terrific in the role of Katrina, who struggles through a Kafkaesque nightmare. There were other well developed characters such as Prisca Geddings, who may hold the key to understanding the truth about Heath. Even the secondary characters were memorable, such as the smooth-talking Georgia country lawyer, Crampton Ligoti. There was lively banter between Katrina and Detective Brand, who slowly came to believe Katrina's outlandish story.

The direction of the film was fast-paced with excellent locations. But it was above all the twists and turns in the narrative that kept the audience guessing right to the end. It was not surprising that the protagonist is contemplating writing a bestseller based on a marriage that became a veritable hurricane for Katrina.
