A family outing to Disneyland brings the three families together. It is not always a happy occasion. In fact, Jay has a tough time thinking of another occasion when he took Claire and Mitch to the park, something he did not enjoy after a bitter fight with his then wife, DeeDee. His beef on this trip is watching Gloria in high heels, something he figures she will regret after all the walking they are going to do.
Cam brings Lily in a child safety harness to prevent her from running away from the group, something that does not go well with the rest of the family. Mitch cannot take it anymore, so he gets the girl out of the restraining harness, resulting in her running away. Jay has the perfect solution for the little girl, as well as for Gloria's aching feet.
Claire invited Ethan, a nice clean cut young man to come with them. Haley likes the guest, but she did not expect to find her former boyfriend, Dylan working in the park. Alex, on the other hand, seems to be more attuned with Ethan. Phil is not amused following his son Luke in the many rides the boy insists taking his father.
Directed by James Bagdonas and based on the screenplay by Cindy Chupack, this episode is one of the best ones of the season. There are hilarious moments that ring so true, they are painful to watch. How many of us have been in situations like the ones presented in this particular chapter. "Modern Family" is a great sitcom that keeps getting better all the time. Unfortunately, there is Manny, a character that does not ring true, as we have noted before. This child is so fastidious, he does not fit with the rest of the family. Of course, it is only a minor distracting point in the whole picture.
