A Cinematic Portrait of a Unique Culture hampered by Self-Importance
iknafilms9 May 2023
The director has stayed true to the core artistic vision of the film, without compromising on the story. It beautifully showcases the vibrant and colorful life of the Haor region people, their traditions, and unique culture. The characters are portrayed in an authentic and realistic manner, without any middle-class bias. The film is a breathtakingly beautiful document of the topography, climate, cultivation, myths, rituals, and lifestyles of the people in this region.

However, the film's main flaw lies in its self-importance. It tries too hard to convey a message and make the audience feel emotional about the region's people. At times, the drama feels staged, which takes away from the cinematic experience. While it is commendable to have a humanitarian approach, it falls short of delivering a truly cinematic vision. Overall, the film is a worthy effort that could have reached greater heights if it had been made as a documentary instead of a feature film.
