On the Halloween night, Nick and Brass arrive in a seedy part of Las Vegas to investigate a dead body found by two teenagers. There is a dog out of control near the body that needs to be restrained by the Animal Control. Soon the CSIs identify the victim as Officer Mike Nelson, from the K-9 Unit, and the dog is his partner Sam. They find money in the glove compartment of his car and methamphetamines in his possession, and they question whether Nelson was a dirty cop. Nick teams-up with Sam to seek out the killer of Nelson. Meanwhile, Finn and Morgan investigate the murder of the famous divorce lawyer Barry Sloan at home. One of the neighbors, the middle-aged Marjorie Randell, says that Barry was a good man and neighbor. Soon they learn that Barry was a womanizer and was sleeping with the wife of one of his clients. The man becomes the prime-suspect of his killing.
"Play Dead" is a great episode of "CSI", with two good segments. The investigation of Nick and Sam is good to see since the dog steals the show. The investigation of Finn and Morgan is also good, with the CSI ladies finding the truth based on one detail of the investigation. My vote is eight.
