Were I a Casting Director in France and given an assignment to cast three middle-aged actors to play siblings, one male, two female, I'd go through several combinations/permutations before settling on Richard Berry (63), Emmanuel Devos (49) and Sandrine Kimberlain (45). As someone who has loved French cinema for many years, okay, a fan, who has watched and admired all three several times it would still be weeks before I would think of teaming them. Despite this they are more than convincing in the roles but then they are, of course, French actors, which is another way of saying the best there is. The film itself is ho hum City but the central performances hold it together. The siblings are of the kind that find it difficult to express their mutual love - ironically this condition has been identified as the 'English' disease - who come together for a funeral and struggle to express their sibling love. That's really all there is to it but time spent with actors of this calibre is never entirely wasted.
