Fly is a very short live-action animated comedy without any dialog about a young woman who is rudely disturbed by a fly. The fly wants her iced-coffee, the woman wants to read her muscle magazine, and all hell is about to break loose. The film takes its inspiration from the pixillated live-action films of Norman McLaren (especially his 1952 Oscar-winner, Neighbours). It is also inspired by a Fritz Freleng-directed 1960's TV cartoon where the Pink Panther puts up a noble, yet catastrophic, fight against a fruit fly. I tried to update these films with a modern twist: the live-action stop-motion was photographed in front of a green screen and seamlessly composited into a time-lapsed background.
