Feliz the Cat - Ok-ish short

I'm a huge Simpsons fan. I have been ever since I first saw an episode around 1991. It's no secret that The Simpsons hasn't been as good as it once was for many years now and "The Simpsons Meet the Bocellis in Feliz Navidad" is no exception.

Set on Christmas Day, the family are opening presents and Homer gets Marge The Bocellis to sing for her as a gift.

This short film feels like an overlong music video. Simpsons fans have seen it all before. Celebrity guests being more important than plot. It's a real embarrassment to the franchise when there's been many memorable guest appearances that have enhanced the plot obvious ones like: Dustin Hoffman, Danny De Vito and Michael Jackson and even in later episodes Peter Frampton and Werner Herzog have added something. Here the Bocellis are wasted - very little in the way of gags or scripting.

There's a joke were Bart is trying to open a present that is obviously a Bike. Hasn't Bart received a bike as a present multiple times now? This would be funny if it was knowingly ironic and back referenced. There's some amusement at seeing Steamboat Itchy, but the meta humour is really played out in The Simpsons. I still love The Simpsons and think this is an okay and quite fun short, but it's nowhere near as entertaining or charming as the Maggie Simpson shorts and it only further highlights that The Simpsons is a shadow of its former self.

I watched the Simpsons meet the bocellis in feliz navadad on Disney plus today and I found the singing from the Simpsons family rubbish and Andrea bocellis and his family could not the Italian opera songs in the short film and I am not been funny there was no English dialogue in the festive short film at evergreen house at Springfield and I think it is time that the Simpsons ended the show right because of this rubbish short film been all Italian and Andrea bocelli animation character was not good for him wearing shades in the short film he looked a blind roy Orbison Simpsons character in disguise.

Another useless Disney+ short, this time with Christmas paint sprayed over it

Warning: Spoilers
Good God that was cheesy.

Once again, these shorts continue to have no real story to speak of whatsoever. The Bocellis just randomly happen to be in the Simpsons' house, they start singing, Bart continunously tries to open the presents too early, we're shown a montage of other characters celebrating Christmas.

Seriously, where *did* the Bocelli family come from? How did they manage to stay hidden in the living room without being noticed by anyone else than Homer? It doesn't make any sense.

And as usual, nothing is funny. I might not be as viscerally annoyed as during Plusaversary or When Lisa Met Billie, but that doesn't mean the shorts have suddenly gotten good. At the end of the day this is still a lazily made, celebrity pandering ad that almost verges on scamming customers on their money (Those subscribed to the service would want actual Simpsons content, not just commercials masquerading as it).

The jokes in the montages were as lazy as they could come. Reused Wiggum cooking the turkey on the electric chair, reused Ralph picking up an egg from a bottomless Easter basket and what a surprise, Sideshow Bob gets a rake. Jesus guys, the least you could have done is give us the classic gruntle if you're gonna beat that gag to the ground again.

Feliz Navidud.

Thankfully Short
rcyoung-0242624 December 2022
Here is yet another pointless Simpson's short. They meet the Bocellis randomly, and I wish I could say that hijinks ensue, but it's a 2 minute short and there's not much here. Why the Bocellis? No idea.

Thankfully, this short was only 2 minutes long. Also, the sound sucked. Andrea Bocelli has a beautiful voice, and his singing here sounded like he had literally phoned it in. What a trainwreck of a performance.

I am having a very hard time writing this. Truth be told, It's personally insulting to me to have to write a review this long and spend more time talking about it than I did viewing the actual short that this review is based on, but

Other than that, it's a hollow piece of drivel.
