I went through a very bizarre life situation that let to a very strange divorce starting in 10/2021. It was so absolutely opposite of the reality that I'd been living I very much began to question the reality of the whole thing. I know that I acted erratically during this time but it was a very tumultuous time in my life.

I really had no interest in this show until I was bored one day and watched the first episode. Going through what I went through I immediately related to this guy and when it ended to where he's basically just a guy that's been scammed and tries everything to justify this just to feel normal.... I get it and frankly it was very depressing to feel that again. If this is actually remotely a true story (obviously the weird fantasy of sex trafficking and the chronicles are fantasy) then I both feel sorry for the guy but basically because he's a person that simply can't admit to himself that he was duped twice and that his beloved son simply left for his mom. This is a sad story overall for multiple reasons but promise you I totally understand trying to figure out if you're living in a fantasy world or not and waking up to simple reality though difficult is a very cathartic experience.

At one point the main protagonist says "i wrote it with a two hours movie in mind, but it needs to be a series"

Too bad, it would have been a great two hour mini series worth a 6 or 7 star rating.

This is both a sad and ironic tale of a man whose real life hurt turns him into a raging mythomane.

The work by the producers/director is great as it leads us neatly from accepting this man as unbelievably wronged, taking a courageous even if conceited stand, to realising that he has invented / made himself believe most of what he told us.

Therefore it is also an intelligent warning about how we're at risk of being manipulated by any true crimes program, the producers of which would not be as honest.

But god it's awfully too long to get from point A to Z.

I think it's cool he lived it, he wrote it, he's acting it. It's the perfect balance of laughing with him and laughing at him...the crew calling him out on lies is hilarious. It's also very entertaining the scenes and dialogue he has to make up, especially what he thinks women would say or do. I did get offended by his line "Typical hooker: no brain" when in fact most if not all prostitutes I've met are very resourceful and a lifestyle like that requires brains. Interesting he judges woman that way when the story he is telling demonstrates time and time again, he is the one lacking brains. I guess his naivety makes him kind of sweet but he's also terribly ignorant.

Started off great. Interesting story, interesting concept, interesting way to make a series. As I continued watching I realized this is just a narcissist who got a chance to make a TV show. He takes his son on first dates with him, he uses his relationship with his son's mother as a sob story when he was a willing participant and initiated the whole thing. He plays the victim card very well. He's a seemingly good guy who got screwed over, except as he goes on he tells us he has made up a lot of it. "This is the script now, it will be great," is a line he likes to use. Instead of embellishing the end, he should have just kept it as the truth. He would have been much more sympathetic and much more likeable. I am writing this review with the last episode not yet released and I will watch the last episode, only because I have to see what nonsense he comes up with for the ending. Don't waste your time.

I almost turned this off after the first few episodes because this guy is so impressed with himself and has absolutely no self awareness-it's physically painful to watch. The doc trailer teased a turn at the end so I hung in there.

It only gets interesting when you start uncovering all this guy's bullish!t-which is a mountain. If I could slap his face off of his head, I would. And if you watch the other actors throughout the first few episodes, you'll see them resisting his punchability as well. They're all saints for being nice to him.

The General should fire him. He mentions and is on film several times answering insurance calls, and seems to think it's below him.

He also doesn't respect women. He pretends to. He purchases a mail order bride and divorced her when he stops getting sex. He marries a second woman and actually admits there was no emotional connection when he thinks she's finally going to open up to him. He calls women "h- - kers" and refers to "pu$$y" and has a full on funeral with naked women (bc if you are a secks worker you obviously still mourn in skimpy dresses). * HARD EYEROLL*. He immediately turns convo back to himself when Roseanne argue tre is talking about the actual real work she does to help women. He's desperate, disgusting trash.

One thing that didn't add up, if this lady married him for his money, how does he have businesses and multiple homes answering insurance calls? Why is he living in an apt?

This poor director.

Based on its social media hype, I sat down today to binge the series. Have officially finished Episode Five.

The story is initially incredulous, jaw-dropping, hilarious in an only-would-happen-in-Florida way and I could not get enough of each episode.

While this has been well thought through & elements have been placed to make the viewer believe it's legit--Amazon book placement, YouTube posts, etc.-we have each been duped. And for that it makes it all the more brilliant. Paul T. Goldman (Finkelstein) is the perfect foil for us to get invested in every next episode.

With Episode Six looming and to be loaded in a few days, I do believe that Paul T. Goldman is...Steve Carrell in some ground breaking prosthetics & beautiful CGI.

Seth, Evan and the entire back and front of camera team...very, very well done!

This is one of the most unique concepts I saw for true crime/true story series.

Yes, it is not perfect, but definitely beyond entertaining. As other reviewers noted, it evokes a range of emotions and yet left me with a good feeling in the end.

To summarize, this is a story where average guy, nerd so to speak got taken advantage by a classic "gold digger".

These series are a personal revenge and vindication for what she has done. It seems like he was especially hurt by her since she took advantage of his vulnerability and practically got away with it. The series make him sort of celebrity, "somebody" after she probably made him fill worthless.

Overall, highly recommended for entertainment value and please, watch till the end. It makes the whole difference.

This was all over the place- a lighthearted docu-series dealing with heavy topics, centered around a fun, funny guy. But don't laugh too loud, cause ultimately, it's a sad cautionary tale that made me cry.

The one issue I have is that they kinda gave away how this would end from the start, by protecting the identity of the supposed guilty party by covering her face the whole time. That was far too telling. But it's still a good mini-series.

I liked it a lot and really rooted for its goofy protagonist. Bless his heart, he just wanted love!

He's so self-absorbed and selfish that I cannot like him. What got me to truly despise him was when he married a Russian woman, brought her to California to live with him, had a child, divorced her, then took their child all the way, as far as he could go, to Florida. And the only reason he gave was, she was sleeping in another room. Not only divorce, but threaten to take custody because she's in med school. It's awful and cruel for him to remove their child from her and simply laugh about it, and make it seem, in his book, that she was angry when in fact she was devastated. It's all about him.
