Mubi will be showing the retrospective Philippe Garrel: Fight for Eternity from May 1 - July 5, 2017 in most countries around the world.Les enfants désaccordésQuestion: I must ask you here about one concept you discuss in your book, one that also might be thought of, next to the structural work, as another way to break from the story in the film. The concept is muzan, and I find it quite difficult to think of a proper translation of it into English. How do you employ this concept into your films, and does it, in fact, have anything to do with the way you wish to break away from the story?
Yoshishige Yoshida: I understand the word in itself, as you would understand the literal meaning of the kanji: something which expresses the impossibility of attaining stability or change for the better. Yes, I believe this is the meaning of the concept that I use.

A new BBC sketch comedy show Revolting spoofs a Bravo franchise and terrorist group in its first episode in "The Real Housewives of Isis." The controversial bit satirizes the ways young women are manipulated by Isis online. For instance, one housewife says her seducer had her at "free healthcare." Another quips, "It's only three days until the beheading, and I've got no idea what I'm going to wear!"
The crux of the sketch is an awkward scene in which Zaynab (Anjli Mohindra) models a new suicide vest for her friends,...

The revolution will be televised — but via smart phone. C-span once again became the unlikely home of Must-See TV on Wednesday night, as Democrats staged a sit-in on the floor of the House of Representatives to push for a debate on gun legislation.
Republican leaders — led by Speaker Paul Ryan — shut off the cameras in the House, serving as a reminder that the government controls the official feeds serviced by Congress to C-span and other media outlets. That’s when several members – including Rep. Scott Peters (D-s.D.), Rep. Beto O’Rourke (D-tx) and Eric Swalwell (D-ca) – pulled out their smartphones and began broadcasting the protest via Facebook Live and Periscope.
That’s despite rules against photo taking inside the House. The video was at times shaky, and the audio was weak, but it was good enough for C-span, which soon took advantage of feeds being provided by several different members.

Satire is taking modern form in “The Revolution Will be Televised.” The television show, which airs on BBC Three and on FilmOn’s BBC Three channel, features sketches and stunts led by Joylon Rubenstein and Heydon Prowse, who play characters such as James and Barnaby, Dale Maily, Ewan Jeffries, Raffa and Ralph and Zam Zmith. Amy Childs has made the unfortunate mistake of confusing Ebola with an up-and-coming band.
The Revolution Will Be Televised presenter Jolyon Rubinstein ambushed the former Towie star on the MOBOs red carpet, asking her: 'Have we done enough to curb the spread of Ebola?'

Rubinstein continued: 'You know Ebola's going to be huge, don't you?'
Mistaking them for a band playing at the awards ceremony, Childs said: "I might be a big fan after tonight. I think they're going to be absolutely amazing."
The presenter also flummoxed Ella Eyre by asking if she had a message for the pro-democracy protesters in Hong Kong.
Amy Childs recently escaped injury after rolling her car onto its roof.

Okay, so we might not be wearing our gladrags and we might not be sipping champagne, but who says a onesie and a takeaway can't be glamorous?
It's BAFTA night, and while we're not at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane with all the best and brightest from the last year of television, at least we can join the party from our sofas. Yep, we'll be blogging along with the awards - which start at 8pm on BBC One - so grab your slippers and a cuppa and join in by tweeting @digitalspy and leaving your comments below...
And as a reminder, the awards actually start in "real life" at 7pm - but we'll be doggedly going along with the television broadcast and pretending we're not an hour behind everyone else, so there's no fear of spoilers. If you want things as they happen, we'll be updating our winners' list here.

Sean Combs is expanding his empire with Revolt, a new, music-focused cable channel that will be carried in about 25 million homes starting this fall.
Talking about the dearth of music on TV -- MTV anyone? -- Combs is setting out to create a new kind of music station.
"This is the hardest, most stressful thing I have ever done in my life," Combs said at a breakfast at the Television Critics Association in Beverly Hills Friday (July 26). "It literally almost drove me crazy two weeks ago."
For years people have talked about how television is dying, but Combs says he realizes it's the opposite. He says TV is everywhere -- "on the toilet, in the trains" -- and he recognized there was an opportunity to be tapped.
The channel's name, of course, lends itself to the inevitable tagline: "The revolution will be televised."
It's the first multi-platform, music channel built from the ground up.
