Orange Is the New Black's Kate Mulgrew does not stand by her latest project, a documentary called The Principle. The film is quickly garnering attention for its controversial views on geocentrism. But it turns out that the Star Trek actress sides with the endless documented proof that the sun revolves around the Earth, and not the Katheryne Thomas-directed project. Phew! Mulgrew, who narrates the documentary, released a statement on her Facebook page apologizing to fans and clarifying that she doesn't stand by the beliefs in the film. "I understand there has been some controversy about my participation in a documentary called The Principle. Let me assure everyone that I completely...

There are a lot of documentaries out there in the world that purport to prove all sorts of things, from "The Secret" to conspiracy theorist David Icke. As it turns out, one documentary filmmaker managed to trick two rather prominent people into participating in their bananas documentary about Geocentrism, "The Principle." (Geocentrism is the "belief" that the sun revolves around the Earth.)
One was scientist and author Lawrence M. Krauss, who wrote an entire article entitled "I Have No Idea How I Ended Up in That Stupid Geocentrism Documentary" for Slate. The other is Kate Mulgrew, who narrates the trailer for the documentary.
As the former Captain Janeway, Mulgrew's voice causes a Pavlovian reaction among "Star Trek" fans who associate her with bad-ass Captain Janeway. When she says at the beginning of the trailer, "Everything we think we know about our universe is wrong," it's hard not to agree. Of...

One would imagine that serving as the narrator of a film would be like serving as any other part in a film – there’s a script, you get it, you study it, possibly memorize it, and deliver it. Sure, said delivery most likely won’t be captured on film and it may be hard to totally grasp what’s going on without visual aid or the involvement of other actors, but it would seem reasonable to assume that you still know what’s going on in the film. After all, you are narrating it. Turns out, this might not be the case, at least if Kate Mulgrew’s story is to be believed (and, as this is the actress who played beloved Star Trek character Captain Janeway, we’d love to believe her). Earlier this week, a trailer hit the web for a documentary titled The Principle, a science-y (emphasis on the “-y”) feature that sort of...

Yesterday, Star Trek fans and science-loving human beings collective set their phasers to Whaaaaaaaaa?!? after the trailer for the new pseudo-science documentary The Principle dropped and seemed to feature Kate Mulgrew (Captain Janeway) supporting a theory that the Earth is at the center of the Universe. In response, the actress, who also stars on Orange Is The New Black, went radio silent, but upon further review, she.s decided to offer up an official statement. It turns out, like an overwhelming majority of people with common sense, she believes the Earth revolves around the sun. Speaking on her official Facebook account, Mulgrew told the world she boarded the project for the paycheck and was completely duped as to what its intentions were. You can check out her entire quote below. "I understand there has been some controversy about my participation in a documentary called The Principle. Let me assure everyone...

“Orange Is the New Black” star Kate Mulgrew threw her fans for a loop this week when they discovered her narration in a trailer for a “documentary” called “The Principle,” which argues that Renaissance-era astronomer Copernicus was way off about the Earth revolving around the Sun. “Everything we think we know about our universe is wrong,” Mulgrew says at the beginning of the film's trailer (above). The documentary promises to trace the history of cosmology and introduce ”new discoveries of Earth-oriented alignments in the largest structures of our visible universe.” Also read: The Brilliance of ‘Cosmos’ – Seth MacFarlane Uses His Power for Good As.

(Wait, what?)
So here’s the situation: On Monday, word broke that Kate Mulgrew — best known these days for playing Red on Orange Is the New Black – is the narrator of an upcoming documentary called The Principle. Spoiler alert: The principle is that contrary to Copernicus and, you know, centuries of documented science, the sun revolves around the Earth.
This is notable for several reasons, including but not limited to these:
1. If anyone should know how space works, it’s Mulgrew, who also starred as Capt. Kathryn Janeway in Star Trek: Voyager and Star Trek: Nemesis.
2. It is the year 2014.
3. And,...

On the surface, the trailer for The Principle you see above may look like any other science documentary. In fact, it may feature many of the same faces and even the same basic tone as stuff you.ve seen on weird cable channels during odd hours, but at its core, it seems to be arguing something a whole lot more doubletake worthy. Are you ready for it? I.m just gonna blurt it out. It seems to be arguing the sun actually revolves around the Earth, or at least the Earth is the center of the Universe. Perhaps even more shockingly, this isn't just some fringe production either. Beloved former Star Trek actress Kate Mulgrew is at the center of it and may have given her stamp of approval. I say "seems" because it's not entirely clear yet. If you watch the above clip, the documentary positions itself mostly as...
