- Beginning of the journey in the Temple of Uluwatu: Sophie meets Gusti Ngura Wiadnya, a Balinese man who speaks French and is now guide:they see a spectacle of traditional Balinese dancing and they also speak about the Hinduism in Bali (in each village there three temples, one dedicated to Brahma, the second to Vishnu and the third to Shiva: besides every family has it own altar.Then Gusti and Sophie travel in scooter to Kutur: at the seaside they meet seaweed producers (the seaweeds are sold to a cooperative and are exported to China and Japan).They drink a beverage made with ice, dried seaweed, coconut milk and fermented cassava.Then they go to Denpasar and visit an animal market, the Balinese people buy birds (lucky charms) or animals like bat for eating.Later they go to Klungkung and meet there the family of Gusti (his brother who speaks also French, his mother, his father) and Gusti's mother is weaving offerings with coconut leaves (these offerings are an important tradition to find peace and serenity).Later Gusti and Sophie meet Ani Made Sudani, Gusti's spouse who manages the Yayasan Metropli Association (lessons of dance,music, painting and makeup for young children).Then they travel to Ababi where they meet John of the Jungle, a guide promoting the ecotourism (visit of rice fields, walking and camping in the jungle, meeting with stone cutters): Then they go to Besakih Temple , a temple dedicated to Shiva, there is a great procession, the people make offerings, a cleansing ritual and prayers for the happiness and peace in the world (about 20.000 persons have arrived) and Sophie knows Wayan Karyaning, an aunt of Gusti who is now priestess in this temple. Besides we see zooms about the different Balinese rituals (teeth filing, marriage, burial and cremation), about the surfing and the mass tourism, bout the ecotourism (homestay accommodation), about the scooters in Bali and specially about the Vespa, about the fishermen (barracuda, tropical tuna and mackerel) , about the miniature painting and the Balinese puppets, and about the fishermen who take care for the coral reef.—zutterjp48
