Mark Hamill has been synonymous with the voice of the Joker ever since he performed the role in Batman: The Animated Series. The actor was nominated for two Annie Awards while he performed the role and he was even tapped to voice the Clown Prince of Crime in other Dcau projects such as Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker and Superman: The Animated Series.
One of Hamill’s best performances as the Joker was in the iconic Dcau film Batman: Mask of the Phantasm. Though he was a secondary villain in the film, Hamill’s performance has been widely regarded as one of his best and the film too has gained a cult following over the years. However, the film was a huge flop upon release and WB is the reason why.

George Lucas created the Star Wars franchise back in 1977, which primarily revolves around the conflict between the light and dark side of the Force. In the first film, Lucas introduced several fascinating sci-fi elements that have become ingrained in modern pop culture and remain relevant even today.
The Lightsaber has been an iconic element of George Lucas’ Star Wars franchise.
One of these elements is the iconic Jedi weapon known as the Lightsaber. However, Lucas initially had an entirely different name in mind for the weapon. Moreover, fans would certainly have been unhappy with the name and it is hard to think the Lightsaber would have achieved the same level of popularity with the original name. Here is what George Lucas originally wanted to call Lightsabers.

Mark Hamill has been known for his role as Luke Skywalker in the original Star Wars trilogy. However, he has also been synonymous with the voice of the Joker as he rendered his vocal talents to the DC villain in Batman: The Animated Series and other films and shows of the Dcau. Hamill was also nominated for Annie Awards for the show and Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker.
Hamill also played the role in one of the finest Batman films of all time. He reprised the role in Batman: Mask of the Phantasm, which has been regarded as one of the best animated Batman films of all time. Hamill’s Joker was a secondary villain in the controversial film and the actor was reportedly grateful that the character was positioned that way.

May 4, 2024, marks Star Wars Day when fans come together to celebrate the iconic space opera franchise. However, not all aspects of the franchise are equally adored by fans. Such an occasion calls for an examination of certain creative choices that ended up being for the worse, such as the redemption of Kylo Ren in the sequels.
Adam Driver’s Kylo Ren underwent a divisive redemption arc in the Star Wars franchise
Adam Driver’s Kylo Ren was built up as an antagonistic force for the Disney-produced sequel trilogy, which polarized the fanbase. Part of the reason for the divisive reaction was an ineffective storyline across the three films, which included plot points such as Kylo Ren’s redemption. Here is how Kylo Ren’s character arc changed according to Adam Driver and how it screwed up the sequels.

Even before Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace made its way to the theatre, Newsweek published an article bashing the film, whose criticisms were based on the trailer’s upbeat tone and rumors. Moreover, the piece also took shots at Jake Lloyd, who was 9 at the time, following the rumors surrounding his portrayal of young Anakin Skywalker.
Furious by the article, which targeted Lloyd without even seeing the film, The Da Vinci Code director Ron Howard wrote a letter in support of the child actor to the outlet.

Many times in life the anticipation is stronger than the fulfillment.
Few things were more anticipated in recent movie history than “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.” On many levels, it did almost live up to the hype: It’s still the number-one domestic box-office hit of all time in the U.S., unadjusted for inflation. Its reviews were overwhelmingly positive. It opened up a whole new era of storytelling for the franchise and deftly balanced the return of beloved characters from the Original Trilogy — Harrison Ford, in particular, delivering the most moving performance he ever gave as Han Solo — while introducing dynamic rising stars. It may have been overly indebted to “A New Hope” and mired in a few too many callbacks, but on the whole, “Force Awakens” was a movie that mined the deep emotion fans have for the franchise while pointing a path forward.

The three trilogies that have been collectively called the Skywalker Saga are considered to be at the center of the Star Wars IP. All the material, be it anthology films or streaming shows, is placed in the timeline directly in relation to the events of the films.
Star War: The Empire Strikes Back
From the fall of Anakin Skywalker to the rise of the New Jedi Order with Rey Palpatine, all have been covered over the course of nine films. However, Geroge Lucas’s original plan for the core Star Wars saga was quite different compared to what we got as the final product. To begin with, the director had a 12-film saga in mind, instead of 9.

Star Wars was conceived with a very different structure as compared to what audiences saw on screen.

Director Gareth Edwards' 2014 "Godzilla" has become a rather important movie in the history of the now 70-year-old franchise. Not only was it the first American-produced film to feature the legendary monster since 1998's disastrous attempt by Roland Emmerich, but it also kicked off Warner Bros. and Legendary's MonsterVerse, which is still going strong today. But even back then, excitement was palpable and the production had to try and keep a tight lid on things. In some cases, those were fruitless efforts.
Many films use code names during production to help throw people off the scent. For "Godzilla," the powers that be decided to refer to the movie as "Nautilus," which is seemingly a reference to the USS Nautilus. During a 2014 on-set interview conducted by Collider with one of the film's stars, Bryan Cranston, the actor was asked whether or not he says the word "Godzilla" in the film. It's then...

First, apologies if this violates Den of Geek’s house style guidelines, but Lol. Lol at everyone who thought that Russell T Davies would return to Doctor Who as the avenging angel of ‘The Fans’, riding in and heroically retconning out all the plot points they had been complaining about for the last four years.
Davies has announced he has no plans to retcon Chris Chibnall’s controversial, canon-shaking Timeless Child plot twist, which revealed that the Doctor is no child of Gallifrey, but a foundling discovered at the mouth of a dimensional rift from universes unknown. Neither is he going to let that twist simply sit in the Doctor’s backstory, present but unacknowledged, alongside other inconvenient facts like the Moon being an egg, Earth’s forests spontaneously multiplying to help burn off solar flares, and the Doctor being best mates with Winston Churchill.

Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that the new take on the beloved NBC Steve Carell comedy has cast the first two members of what will be the ensemble comedy with Sabrina Impacciatore (The White Lotus) and Domhnall Gleeson (Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker) becoming the first two to join the cast of the potential series.
Reps for Universal Television, which is producing the updated take from creators Greg Daniels and Michael Koman (Nathan for You), declined to comment as the details surrounding the project remain closely guarded. A platform for the project has not yet been determined as sources say Daniels and the studio want to make sure the take is right before setting it up at a network/streamer. Disney's theme parks launched new experiences for their original "Star Wars" ride this week. Star Tours: The Adventures Continue is the second iteration of the attraction that originally opened at Disneyland Park in 1987. The first version of the ride was a consistent experience that put audiences inside a motion-simulated ship piloted by a droid voiced by Paul Reubens. The ride took park-goers right into the middle of a Death Star attack and was unlike anything anyone had ever seen. An ever-popular attraction, it was updated in May of 2011 to its current iteration. Instead of a single movie ride, new technology allowed Lucasfilm and Disney Imagineers to randomize the process. Now, with the updated system, your voyages could be randomized and it was easy for new updates to be made.
As new movies in the Skywalker Saga were subsequently released, new locations were added to the ride. "The Force Awakens" brought Jakku to Star Tours,...

Star Wars currently has several projects in development, ranging from Mangold’s new film set thousands of years in the past to Waititi’s project, which he teased would challenge fan expectations. In the midst of these, there’s a new movie focusing on Rey.
Announced at Star Wars Celebration 2023, this film follows Rey’s journey after ‘The Rise of Skywalker.’ Directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, it depicts Rey’s efforts to rebuild the Jedi Order. Originally, Damon Lindelof and Justin Britt-Gibson were set to write, but Steven Knight took over. The story is set 15 years after ‘Rise of Skywalker,’ delving into the aftermath of the war and the state of the galaxy with the Jedi scattered. Kathleen Kennedy revealed that Rey is dedicated to honoring her promise to Luke by rebuilding the Jedi Order, drawing from the teachings found in the ancient books.

“I suppose I feel more like I’m owning it. I suppose I owned it the first time. Basically, I’m an adult now,” she told Empire. “I certainly did not feel like an adult at the time. Get ready to play a very different kind of Easter egg hunt with the new "Star Wars" series "The Acolyte" (watch the trailer here). Leslye Headland's upcoming series takes place 100 years before "Star Wars: Episode I -- The Phantom Menace," which should come as a soothing balm to those who've been waiting for the franchise to move far (far) away from the Skywalker Saga and explore other periods of "Star Wars" history in live-action. That being the case, the real test here won't be seeing how many references or nods to other "Star Wars" projects you can spot; it will be figuring out where you've previously seen the show's crackerjack actors.
With the exceptions of "The Matrix" icon Carrie-Anne Moss and up-and-coming whipper-snappers Amandla Stenberg ("Bodies Bodies Bodies") and Dafne Keen ("His Dark Materials"), much of the "Acolyte" cast is composed of "Hey, I know them!" type character actors.

The latest round of Outlander spinoff casting includes an Easter Egg for a subset of the book-loyal fandom.
Starz on Wednesday announced the addition of four roles to the forthcoming prequel, Blood of My Blood. Among them: Watchmen‘s Sara Vickers in the part of Brian Fraser’s mother (and, therefore, Jamie Fraser’s grandmother). The character is a housekeeper in the Lovat household, which is good and all, but we’re super into how she’s also named after someone many devotees of author Diana Gabaldon will recognize: Davina Porter, who narrates the audiobook versions of Gabaldon’s Outlander book series.

Although there are multiple star-studded franchises in all of Hollywood’s entertainment industry, perhaps none comes close to such immaculate box office success as the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Especially when it comes to worldwide openings, the MCU is widely the chart dominator and has achieved some of the most jaw-dropping feats as far as the box office is concerned.
The MCU is still dominating Hollywood’s entertainment industry.

Warner Bros. is making a commitment to stay in the Timothee Chalamet business. The legendary studio has signed the actor to a multi-year, first-look deal, which represents a sizable show of faith in the 28-year-old A-list star. But following the success of monster hits such as last year's "Wonka" and both "Dune" movies, it would be hard to blame WB for going all-in on Chalamet at this point.
Per The Hollywood Reporter, specifics of the deal have not been disclosed, but the deal extends to feature projects that Chalamet would both star in and produce. It also appears the deal is limited to movies and may not extend to TV. Chalamet had this to say about it in a statement:

Attack of the Clones had an improved, if not stellar, critical reception and Revenge of the Sith continued this trend to be recognized as the best of the three. That said, despite the upward trajectory there was a sense that these films would never recover from their initial mauling and that their lasting legacy would be their failure to recapture the magic of the Original Trilogy in a sustained way.

But 25 years after the release of The Phantom Menace,...

If money is the root of all evil, the following movies are the baddest of the bad. These money-making behemoths are the only ones in U.S. history to have crossed the $500 million mark at the domestic box office. Among them are all three of the most recent “Star Wars” episodes plus a whole collection of Marvel Cinematic Universe flicks. There is exactly one original film in the line-up (“Avatar”) and only a single true story (“Titanic”), and both just happen to be directed by James Cameron. The rest of the films, as you’d expect, are reboots, remakes and sequels. The most recent addition is Greta Gerwig’s “Barbie,” which is the most successful film to ever be directed by a woman. Scroll through our gallery below for a closer look at the box office all time domestic top-grossing movies, not adjusted for inflation. Gallery updated March 2024.

A theory about Baby Yoda suggests a potentially heartbreaking destiny for him ( Photo Credit – IMDb )
Grogu’s surprising introduction in The Mandalorian, commonly known as Baby Yoda, took fans by storm. His mysterious origins and significance have continued to intrigue Star Wars enthusiasts throughout the show’s two seasons. As viewers explore Grogu’s backstory further, they speculate about his role in both the series’ storyline and the broader Star Wars universe. A fan theory from Reddit suggests that Grogu, also known as “The Child,” is part of a longstanding cycle where a child grows up to save the Chosen One from falling into darkness.
Speculation arises from the saviour cycle theory, suggesting that Ahsoka Tano could have trained Grogu to eventually mentor a new Chosen One in a later phase of the Star Wars timeline, especially considering her appearance in The Mandalorian’s second season. This theory implies that...

It’s only one minute long, but at least Warner Bros Pictures’ first Beetlejuice Beetlejuice teaser trailer shows the reunion of Michael Keaton’s Beetlejuice and Winona Ryder’s Lydia Deetz. That’s all anyone can ask for in a teaser for a film that’s been three decades in the making.
Two-time Emmy winner Catherine O’Hara (Schitt’s Creek) reprises her role as Delia Deetz, alongside Beetlejuice newcomers Jenna Ortega (Wednesday) as Lydia’s daughter, Astrid, and Justin Theroux (Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi) as Rory. The sequel’s cast also includes Monica Bellucci (Spectre), Arthur Conti (House of the Dragon), and Oscar nominee Willem Dafoe (Poor Things).

Exclusive: My Chemical Romance’s Gerard Way, creator of comic The Umbrella Academy, is teaming with Dark Horse Comics to launch horror comic Paranoid Gardens in July.
Way is back working with his co-writer Shaun Simon. Chris Weston, known for his work in comics at Vertigo and DC as well as his work in concept art, storyboards and costume concept art for movies such as Star Wars: The Last Jedi, is illustrating the series, with artist Motohiro Hayakawa providing cover art for the first issue.
Dark Horse Comics describes the new comic as “Derek meets Doctor Who in six psychotic episodes.”
The official synopsis reads: “Loo is a nurse at the most bizarre care center around. The staff are not entirely human, and the cases are downright unearthly. Aliens, ghosts, superheroes and more creatures plague its hallways as doctors and patients and the hospital itself seem to be somewhat self-aware.

There are plenty of iconic characters, vehicles, weapons, and more from "Star Wars" that fans have latched onto over the years. But since the loyal followers of a galaxy far, far away can be a weird bunch, even going so far as to remaster the original cuts of the movies themselves, they also become obsessed with a lot of small details in the sci-fi universe.
Case in point, blue milk is well known among "Star Wars" fans, despite only making a brief appearance at Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru's kitchen table in "A New Hope," while Luke Skywalker pines about being stuck on Tatooine. The blue milk, which was agonizing to create for production, is so famous that Star Wars Galaxy's Edge at Disneyland and Disney World actually have it available to buy, along with the green milk that older Luke Skywalker disturbingly sips down in "Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

The trailer for Star Wars: The Acolyte has finally dropped, and it once again whisks you away to a galaxy far away. Announced by Lucasfilm in 2020, it took the production four years to get off the ground, but it is finally here, and it looks good.
Like most Star Wars projects, The Acolyte has been the subject of many discussions and speculation over the years. One of the major topics was the period in which the show was set. The trailer offers an interesting peek into the lives of the Jedi, but the fandom is less than impressed, and the show has already hit a disappointing milestone.

Different, we expect this Star Wars show to be. As Supreme Leader Snoke (Andy Serkis) said in The Last Jedi, darkness rises, and light to meet it—although in this summer’s The Acolyte, it appears his statement is true in reverse. The Acolyte will also mark several notable firsts for the franchise when it brings viewers to a new time period in a galaxy far, far away: 100 years before the events of The Phantom Menace. Here’s what stood out to us in the trailer, and what TV- and movie-only fans should know about the galaxy before the Skywalker Saga. Disney+/YouTube 1. It’ll take place in time of the High Republic. ‘Star Wars: The Acolyte’ Creator Leslye Headland Talks the Unique Perspective of Her Upcoming Series
Star Wars: The Acolyte creator Leslye Headland is currently putting the finishing touches on a four-year journey that started with Lucasfilm boss Kathleen Kennedy buying her overall series pitch in the room. At the time, her hook was “Frozen meets Kill Bill,” and now the first trailer provides a few more of the puzzle pieces. Set a century before Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, Amandla Stenberg’s mysterious character appears to be hunting Jedi during a time of peace near the end of the High Republic era.
The trailer kicks off with Lee Jung-jae’s Jedi Master urging a group of Padawans to not trust their own deceitful eyes, and perhaps the same can be said of the trailer and the series’ overall narrative. The show will be taking a page out of Rashomon’s playbook, exploring different perspectives on the same events.

In an interesting turn of events, “Star Wars” creator George Lucas publicly supports Disney CEO Bob Iger and the Walt Disney Company board against the activist investor groups trying to obtain board seats. This is highly ironic given that George Lucas was very vocal about how he felt betrayed by Bob Iger. Iger himself even talked about how Lucas felt betrayed in his book.

It's fun going back to watch Irvin Kershner's 1980 sci-fi epic "The Empire Strikes Back," knowing what twists would come in subsequent sequels. In "Empire," Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher) became angry at Han Solo (Harrison Ford), a man Leia knew was attracted to her. To make Han jealous, Leia brazenly grabs a nearby Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) and kisses him full on the mouth. Luke knows that Leia was only playing a game, but was happy to be kissed. Han stormed out of the room, outraged. Luke smiled in smug satisfaction.
In Richard Marquand's 1983 follow-up film "Return of the Jedi," it would be revealed that Luke and Leia were siblings. This was clearly a last-minute plot twist, meant to parallel the "surprise" from "Empire" that the villainous Darth Vader was actually Luke Skywalker's father. The "Jedi" twist wasn't thought out, however, as it retroactively incorporated into "Star Wars" an...

Rian Johnson and Ram Bergman’s company T-Street has signed a two-picture producing deal with Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group.
Michael De Luca and Pam Abdy, who took over as the studio’s co-chairs and CEOs in 2022, orchestrated the deal. It marks the producers’ first collaboration with Warner Bros., having previously worked with Lionsgate on the box office hit “Knives Out,” Netflix on its sequel “Glass Onion,” Disney on “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” and Focus Features on the neo-noir thriller “Brick.” It’s unclear if Johnson will direct either of the two films that he’ll be overseeing at Warner Bros.
“Mike and Pam’s renewed commitment to original storytelling and the theatrical experience make Warner Bros. Discovery an ideal place to help us bring the filmmakers we love to audiences around the world on a grand scale,” said Johnson and Bergman. “We’re thrilled to have them as partners.

The Joker is one of Batman’s greatest adversaries, and it is difficult to imagine a successful Batman universe that does not eventually end up casting a Joker for itself. For several projects, it was Luke Skywalker actor himself, Mark Hamill. Hamill has played The Joker in multiple projects but has always considered one version of the Clown Prince of Crime as his crowning achievement.
Voiced by Mark Hamill, the character of Joker in the Arkham series remains iconic.
The Arkham Series is often hailed as one of the best interpretations of Batman and his mythology. Mark Hamill has played the Joker in the game series, while also essaying the role in Batman: The Animated Series, The New Adventures of Batman, Batman: Mask of the Phantasm, and Batman Beyond. He also played Joker for Batman Vengeance for the Sega CD version of the Adventures of Batman and Robin. However, Hamill...

For fans anxiously awaiting Lucasfilm's next big move after the divisive "The Rise of Skywalker" brought an uncertain end to "Star Wars" on the big screen, well, this next update only kind of clears things up.
"Wonder Woman" director Patty Jenkins once was the subject of a breathless announcement back in December of 2020, which revealed that she would be directing a "Star Wars" film about a squadron of X-wing pilots due out by the end of 2023. That obviously didn't end up happening, probably because the title was quietly removed from the studio's release schedule after months and months without a single update. We subsequently found out Jenkins' 'Star Wars" movie had been unceremoniously shelved, possibly in response to the poor reception to "Wonder Woman 1984," but maybe that was a bit premature. In a thoroughly unexpected surprise, this latest bit of news comes not from Lucasfilm itself, but from...

Not only is Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Two bringing in raking in the big bucks at the box office, but it is also receiving an abundance of laudation from critics and crowds alike. With the latest release’s conclusion leaving the horizon open for an upcoming installment, fans have now taken to eyeing the prospects of seeing Frank Herbert’s follow-up book, Dune Messiah, adapted for the screen.
Dune: Part Two (2024)
Of course, filmmaker Villeneuve himself has entertained the possibility, and we know from reports that the script for the third film has nearly been finished, with no inclination to rush the material. While the future appears enticing and intends to be the backdrop to the aftermath of Paul’s actions in Part Two, a particular element of the premise may disappoint some viewers on a scale reminiscent of Rian Johnson’s The Last Jedi.

Expectations are very high for Daisy Ridley‘s return to the galaxy far, far away. The actor is set to don the Jedi robes once again in a standalone film, which currently has the working title of Star Wars: New Jedi Order, but she’s no longer playing Rey as the fresh-faced student still figuring out her place in the galaxy or among the many generations of Jedi heroes who have come before her. The Rey we’ll meet in the upcoming movie has become the teacher who is now working to build a new Jedi Order.
The movie, which is set to be directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy (Ms. Marvel), takes place 15 years after the events of The Rise of Skywalker and the end of the Sequel Trilogy. That means we’ll get to see a more mature Rey who plans to do things differently than when Luke Skywalker tried...
