My Lover, My Lazy Boy is an upcoming horror comedy. From the twisted mind of director Bernie Rao (The Badlands), this film envisions a serial-killing armchair. A movie clip was released for the film a year ago. Currently, director Rao is completing production on the film, which is slated to show in film markets later this year. This is a New Zealand production. And, My Lover, My Lazy Boy stars: Jed Brophy (The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies), Harley Neville (I Survived a Zombie Holocaust), Grant Kereama, Piimio Mei and many others. An unofficial trailer, for the film, is available here - along with a few other details. The official plot mentions a Dybbuk-possessed reclining chair. This chair becomes infatuated with its new owner (no seriously?!). Now, this recliner will do whatever it takes, including murder, to have her. Not even a Jewish Rabbi, nor a Voodoo sorceress can help.

A group of friends are on a camping trip in the rural backwoods, with no phones, no technology and no contact with the outside world. Unbeknownst to the group the world has succumbed to a zombie infestation – something they soon discover when they come upon an abandoned farm and one the the group is bitten by one of the infected and turns into a rabid blood-thirsty, 28 Days Later-style zombie killing machine. Only these zombies tend to bite the dust after a few hours. Hence the films title!
The zombie genre is The most overcrowded of all the horror subgenres. Its seems ever filmmaker has at least one zombie story to tell, and most of the time they’re as derivative as the last one.

For those of you looking to live a bit more deliciously, May 17th is certainly going to be your day, because Robert Eggers’ The Witch is finally making its way onto Blu-ray and DVD this Tuesday. Scream Factory also has two releases that genre fans will certainly want to keep an eye on this week: William Castle’s cult classic I Saw What You Did and the recent thriller Dementia, which stars The Sacrament’s Gene Jones. The killer anthology Southbound is also coming to DVD on Tuesday, and Universal has several four-title collections that might be worth your time as well.

Another “the end of the world is nigh” film – these things seem to crop up every few years or so – These Final Hours is literally that: a look at the final hours of the planet, as seen throught the eyes of people in Australia’s coastal city of Perth. You see the fiery effects of a crash-landed asteroid are making their way, tsunami-style, across the planet and heading for their last devastating stop – Australia. Of course that can only mean one of three things: People throw end of the world parties. Go horrendously crazy while waiting to die. Or, as in the case of this films protagonist, find redemption where they least expect it…

It’s the third day of shooting the low budget horror ‘Tonight They Come’ on location in the wilds of New Zealand. The director is already beside himself having to work with a self-obsessed leading man and a bimbo actress when into his line of fire comes a new runner, wannabe screenwriter Wesley Pennington. An accident-prone nerd, Wesley tries his best to fit in with the crazed cast and demented crew while falling head over heels for Susan, the set caterer. But something nasty has entered the local water supply and suddenly the zombie extras start acting like genuine members of the living dead, gore stunts looks even more authentic and actual severed limbs fly. “Reel life” turns real life as Wesley attempts...
