Mid-July doesn’t exactly constitute the dog days of summer, but for parents with kids to keep entertained it’s certainly close enough. Summer break is only half over for most kids across the United States, and that means parents have at least another month of kids with nothing but time on their hands.

Johnny Darrell's animated Slugterra: Return of the Elementals is a 63-minute episode of the Disney Xd series Slugterra, and little besides.
It makes no attempt to distinguish itself as a feature film, going so far as to recycle the show's opening credits and tacking on "Return of the Elementals" as an episode title. (This is presumably no problem for the preteen boys Slugterra is marketed toward, though it's an interesting contrast with last year's feature film My Little Pony: Equestria Girls, which respected its preteen-girl target demographic enough to be an actual movie and not just a retread of its source series.) ITV's new series brings in Rosamund Pike as voice of Lady Penelope, with David Graham returning as chauffeur Parker
Rosamund Pike will provide the voice of Lady Penelope in the new ITV version of Thunderbirds in a cast that also includes Fonejacker's Kayvan Novak.
However, some things remain the same: David Graham, who provided the distinctive nasal tones of Lady Penelope's chauffeur, Parker, in the original 1960s children's series, is to reprise the role.
Pike, the actor best known for her role as a double agent opposite Pierce Brosnan in James Bond film Die Another Die, said she was "very excited to bring Lady Penelope's wry wit and taste for adventure to a new generation".
The new series, which will be called Thunderbirds are Go!, also sees the return of Graham as the voice of Parker. Graham voiced Parker, along with three other puppet characters, in the original series...

Cinelinx keeps the salt off of the Slugterra: Return of the Shane Gang DVD!
The Set-up
In this Disney Xd animated series, a young man named Eli Shane joins the family business of Slugslinging, a combat form in which fighters shoot slugs from guns at each other. This DVD features five episodes from the series.
The Delivery
Sometimes, you enjoy watching artistic, sophisticated animation, and sometimes, you want to see slugs being shot from guns. For those latter instances, Slugterra is here to fill that need. This entertaining animated series, shown on the Disney Xd network, is a load of fun, despite the ludicrous premise.
Using CGI painted to look like traditional animation, Slugterra has a unique look that certainly appears better than the cheap-o CGI many cartoons use. It's obvious the producers are trying to give us a quality show, instead of another product commercial. Even so, Slugterra...

Twenty-six half hours have been ordered for air on ITV and Citv in the UK in 2015. The original Thunderbirds was created by Gerry Anderson, who passed away in December.
