It was all shot on16 mm film. Two versions were made -- one for PBS broadcast and one for commercial use by the underwriter, Hoffman LaRoche. The LaRoche version was edited and released on film. Since many scenes were used in both versions, selected takes were transferred to videotape and the PBS broadcast version was edited on tape. In conformity with PBS guidelines, LaRoche had no editorial control over the broadcast version at all.
