Not all of Burbank Animation Studios' animations work, D4:The Trojan Dog, Hercules and The Little Mermaid. Most are decent to quite good though, with Count of Monte Cristo, White Fang and Hansel and Gretel faring best. Thumbelina is decent, possessing its flaws and charms. The animation looks a little rushed and could have had more colour, the dialogue has moments where it doesn't flow very well and Percival as a villain is rather bland and voiced in a rather clichéd way. These flaws though in regard to Burbank have been done much worse. There is much to be charmed by. Thumbelina is a very sweet character and instantly engages, while the rest of the characters are colourful in their own right. The music is simple and whimsical, fitting aptly also, while the story is charming, sticks to the spirit of the lovely fairy tale and doesn't feel dull in any way. It also manages to avoid being too sickly sweet. The voice work is among the best for Burbank Animation Studios' animations, only Percival's didn't work for me. Thumbelina has a very cute, without being overly so, and vulnerable voice that is perfect for her size. All in all, charming if flawed, my favourite animated version is still Golden Films'. 7/10 Bethany Cox
