- DI Poole and DS Bordey investigate the death of geologist Ian Parks, one of four treasure hunters who are on the island looking for a famous pirate's treasure. The shooting followed an explosion the previous day that injured the group's leader Daniel Morgan. Camille thinks they may have found the treasure making the remaining three and the local, who owns the land, the main suspects. Parks however was killed in Morgan's tent so the police aren't entirely sure who was the intended victim. A second death leaves them with only three suspects, but Poole soon realizes they are looking at the case the wrong way.—garykmcd
- Poole 'must' interrupt his historical tour of the island sites for a new case. Geologist Ian Parks was fatally shot with a pirate age flint pistol, possibly mistaken for one of the three other members of a jungle expedition for the legendary gold of pirate Leclerc. A day earlier, the tent's owner, expedition leader Daniel Morgan, was mildly injured, nearly escaping death, as their dig in a cave was made to collapse, disabling the entrance. The team looks into the fellow expedition members Chris Winchester and Liz Curtis , the broke land owner Joel Maurice who was promised a share of the treasure, and local guide and handyman Benjamin Sammy. The prime suspect dies from a fatal bug bite in police jail, fitting the Leclerc curse, before Poole cracks the case and gets a confession by promising to keep a motivating secret.—KGF Vissers
