There was no shortage of quality Korean shows to watch this year. From mystery thrillers and classic dramas to riveting reality series and heart-fluttering romances, 2023 was truly the year K-content ruled the roost. More recent releases like 1940s historical thriller, Gyeonseong Creature, with Park Seo-joon (The Marvels) and Han Soo-hee (My Name), and the latest season of horror drama favorite, Sweet Home, prove the momentum isn’t dying down anytime soon as we head into 2024.

My Perfect Stranger is a Korean drama that takes us back to 1987 to solve the mysterious case of a serial killer. The protagonists, too, travel back from 2021 to 1987 in a car that is a time-traveling machine, yes, like in Back To The Future, and remain there in order to solve the mystery along with their family problems. Hae-Joon and Yoon-Young try really hard to find the murderer back in 1987 and almost peg it on Go Mi-Sook, a lying cheat who happens to write a book that details the murders precisely. Some things don’t add up in this plot line because how did Mi-Sook know every little detail when it wasn’t her or her brother who murdered the victims? In episode 14, the real killer is revealed to be Yeon-Woo, the village Chief’s son, who is coincidentally also Hae-Joon’s father.

The last episode of Korea’s Back To The Future aired this week. We’re excited to discuss everything that went down in My Perfect Stranger, especially in that last episode. It’s unfortunate that we didn’t get to see more of Yoon-Young and Hae-Joon together because they’re quite an adorable pairing whose relationship really grew through the series, just as did our liking for them together. It’s a medium-paced drama with mystery, lots of family drama, some romance, and a lot of cuteness. It’s the perfect K-drama because it’s a mix of all the genres out there while simultaneously being entertaining and not over the top. Jin Ki-Joo has got to be the highlight of the show because of her adorable smile and loveable nature as Yoon-Young. She’s always a delight to watch, and if it weren’t for her, My Perfect Stranger...

It’s the last week of the K-drama My Perfect Stranger, and all the loose ends are getting tied up. Episode 15 is a little bit slower than expected, but it’s probably so that there’s time for some fun in the last episode. The mystery sci-fi show is about a journalist who finds a time-traveling car and decides to hop on it on a whim. After that, mystery ensues, and an unexpected stranger joins his journey. Over time, Hae-Joon and Yoon-Young grow close to each other, and of course, the expected outcome is a happy ending. The killer was revealed last episode, and it may have come as a surprise and a terrible twist.

As we predicted, episode 14 is where we get most of the answers in K-dramas and the same goes for My Perfect Stranger. Finally, we know who the real culprit is, and he’s been closer than we’d imagined all this time. We’re going to be sad saying bye to Yoon-Young, Hae-Joon, Soon-Ae, and Hee-Seop, who have all been extremely fun to watch together. It’s a shame the two protagonists have to go back to the future soon enough, but we’re sure to have a bigger conflict in the 15th episode to make things worse until they can be perfect in the future.

Episode 12 of My Perfect Stranger ended with a big cliffhanger, almost looking like it was the end of everything for Hae-Joon. Hae-Joon and Yoon-Young’s relationship continues to get stronger, and it also looks like Yoon-Young is starting to accept Hee-Seop’s happy self rather than seeing him as the disconnected father she had all her life. To our disappointment, there’s no sign of who the culprit might be, and we seem to be going further away from the truth rather than toward it. Hae-Joon has an interesting moment with his mother, but some things are oddly changing right now. Let’s go straight into it.

Episode 12 of My Perfect Stranger has taken a drastic turn, and as we suspected, there is even more confusion as we get closer to the end of the show. A lot went down in episode 12, and although some things felt like a drag, it was mostly a super fast-paced episode with new clues as to why this town is riddled with crime. Let’s get straight into it.

What Happens In Episode 12?
Hae-Joon beats around the bush to answer Yeon-Woo’s question about who he really is. Yeon-Woo is confused, but he continues to work on the car for Hae-Joon. Something about Hae-Joon makes Yeon-Woo trust him, even if it’s not wholeheartedly (we know it’s the shared blood). Yoon-Young tries to console a dull-looking Hae-Joon but finds out another sad truth about him in the process. He was never given love by anyone in his life; his grandfather,...

The latest episode of My Perfect Stranger is like a filler episode with a cliffhanger that has left us desperate for tomorrow’s episode. In this episode, a lot of problems have been solved, and it feels like things are coming together for Hae-Joon and Yoon-Young to go back home in the near future. Of course, the culprit isn’t caught yet, but that’s the big mystery of the show, so it’s going to take up to episode 14, somewhere in the middle, for us to know exactly who they are if we follow the typical pattern of Korean dramas. My Perfect Stranger is reminiscent of older K-dramas from the early 2010s that are fun, mysterious, and simultaneously charged with extreme emotion. There are even some tears to be shed in this episode, and not to forget that Jin Ki-Joo’s smile is so contagious you can’t help...

So much is revealed in this week’s episodes of My Perfect Stranger. Although it’s a little bit tedious to keep going in circles to figure out who the murderer is, at least now we know who is not the suspect. Finally, there’s some understanding of what went wrong for Hee-Seop all those years ago and resulted in him behaving unfavorably towards his wife and child. But why did Hee-Seop take the blame for his mother’s wrongdoing, and what was it that his brother did? We find out all in the latest two episodes of My Perfect Stranger.

What Happens In Episode 7?
Last week it came to our attention that Hae-Joon may have been looking at the cases completely wrong because he never thought of the possibility of an assailant that wasn’t on the suspect list in 1987. Yoon-Young and Hae-Joon now think it’s Baek Yoo-Seob who killed the woman because of the blue cap that he gave his brother and Yoon-Young’s father, Hee-Seob. Quickly, we understand that Yoon-Young, in the future, really doesn’t like her uncle because he’s a menace at home,...

After what looked like a fruitful episode 5, My Perfect Stranger seemed like it was leading us up a specific path to identifying the culprit of the murders, but it turns out we were wholly misled, and now something entirely different is happening. This isn’t unusual in Dramalanad, but we really thought we were making some progress there. So, let’s get into this confusing episode immediately.

Episode 4 of My Perfect Stranger ended with Yoon-Young and Hae-Joon realizing that they needed to tell each other at least part of the reason why they needed to be back in 1987. Yoon-Young knows now that there is something seriously wrong with Mi-Sook. She was a problematic human being even back in the day, stealing her mother’s work and naming it hers. Finally, she is able to know where the student teacher will be because of what she saw written in Mi-Sook’s book from 2021, meaning she might’ve actually murdered people or at least known about the murders that took place back then.

The first 2 episodes of My Perfect Stranger were highly entertaining and set the tone for the time-traveling murder mystery combined with family drama and possibly a hint of romance as well. It is common for K-dramas to drop a melancholic bomb, like a family member dying or a murder in the town, to make us intrigued but also feel terribly sad, and then switch to comedy in episode 2. My Perfect Stranger does the same exact thing, and while the first episode was good, the second episode really sets the pace for the kind of fun this show is going to be. More Back to the Future and less Les Mis.
