Another quality mystery.
Sleepin_Dragon16 July 2023
Peggy is ecstatic when she receives an invite to attend Pirate Radio Station Catherine, her joy is quickly broken, when The resident DJ, Billy King is found dead, Sister Boniface seduces that it's foul play.

I am so impressed by the standard and consistency of this second series, Dead Air is another quality episode. It's perhaps more humorous than the last few, but so enjoyable, Sister B's fantasy DJ scene was hilarious.

A goldfish bowl mystery, with a small number of suspects, but the solution is well imagined, you're made to wait to learn whodunnit.

It's been nice seeing Peggy's character developing, she seems to be growing with every episode, loved seeing her dancing around her bedroom, so natural.

I really did rate Josh Bolt, who played Arnie, he was great, of course it's Last Tango's Raff, really good performance here.

8/10.

A groovy kind of murder
coltras3516 July 2023
Peggy is delighted when her favourite pirate radio station 'Radio Catherine' bring their trendy transmissions to Great Slaughter. Helmed by the groovy Billy King, the pirate gang have to stay one step ahead of the GPO engineer determined to bring them to justice, Nigel Greybone, with a disgruntled Sam in tow.

An enjoyable episode, mainly due to the groovy backdrop of pirate Radio station called Radio Catherine - aka Radio Caroline - and the equally groovy DJ's, but as this is mystery drama, one of them gets groovily killed. And there's no guessing who it is, as the victim is a truly horrid bloke.

Best episode yet!

Really liked this episode - it wasn't really on a mission to change the world like many in the series but simply focused on the mystery. Sister Boniface had fun with her fantasy segment as usual and I love it when Peggy has a big part too. Whilst I enjoy the recurring characters, there's quite a small pool of people in this edition which in some ways is better as Boniface and Button get more air time rather than being squeezed out by a large ensemble. I love the adventures Sister Boniface has, which are often unusual for a nun but not mocking her either. Plus, overall the story and dialogue felt a better depiction of the time than many previously.

Dead Air

Warning: Spoilers
Pirate radio has come to Great Slaughter. Detective Inspector Sam Gillespie finds himself unwillingly assisting dogged Nigel Greybone.

He is from the General Post Office and he is overzealous to shut down Radio Catherine. The pirate radio station is broadcasting from somewhere in Great Slaughter.

However Greybone's quest takes a back seat when ace DJ Billy King is found dead, electrocuted. Now it is a murder enquiry.

Could it be the other DJs jealous of his success or his wife jealous of his philandering.

Another light and enjoyable episode. Once more with a dark underbelly to it. A fanatical father who does not know when to let go.
