Aston Barrett, the Jamaican bassist known as “Family Man” who served as the rhythmic architect for reggae legends like Bob Marley and the Wailers, Burning Spear, and Augustus Pablo, has died at the age of 77.
Barrett’s death was announced on social media Saturday by his son Aston Barrett Jr. “With the heaviest of hearts, we share the news of the passing of our beloved Aston ‘Familyman’ Barrett after a long medical battle,” Barrett Jr. wrote. “This morning, the world lost not just an iconic musician and the backbone of...

Bad Omens and Poppy have unveiled the collaborative track “V.A.N” along with an accompanying music video.
The sci-fi concept song is centered around an AI entity voiced by Poppy, a guest befitting of song’s industrial metal sound. Her whispered vocals transform into aggro screams as the song builds in intensity, as metal instrumentation joins the electronic textures already in place.
“That’s a song that started just with the hook ‘Violence against nature,’ and then after saving the project with the acronym and seeing it we realized it could be fun to think of ‘Van’ as a name,” remarked Bad Omens singer Noah Sebastian in a press release. “Thus the rabbit hole of ideas began that led us to decide to write lyrics from the perspective of an artificial intelligence gone rogue.”
The track is a tie-in with Bad Omens’ Concrete Jungle comic book universe, with the AI entity V.

There are three types of people in the world: "Garfield" people, "Calvin and Hobbes" people, and "Peanuts" people. As a practicing worshipper of The Great Pumpkin and the human result of what happens when Lucy van Pelt and Peppermint Patty go through the Brundlefly machine, I am firmly in the latter camp. There's no such thing as a bad "Peanuts" movie, in my opinion, only films that are special to a smaller number of fans.
The characters created by Charles M. Schulz have been entertaining generations for over 75 years, and there's no sign of stopping. Apple won the rights to much of the "Peanuts" library in the streaming wars, releasing the hybrid "Peanuts" special/Schulz documentary "Who Are You, Charlie Brown?" as well as two series, "Snoopy in Space" and "The Snoopy Show." Now, Apple TV+ is developing its first "Peanuts" original feature, bringing Charlie Brown and the gang to the Big City.

It's the end of an era for "Snowfall" fans and, unfortunately, of the overall journeys of some of the series's pivotal characters.
For the past six seasons, the 1980s-set crime drama has followed the dramatic tale of ambitious drug dealer Franklin (Damson Idris) and the epic rise and fall of his drug organization during the crack epidemic in South Central Los Angeles. While we've witnessed Franklin's transformation from college-bound teenager to a ruthless kingpin, one of the biggest shocks in the gritty FX series thus far has been watching his family slowly fall apart - which, in part, has led to another heartbreaking death.
The latest major "Snowfall" character to die - following major losses like Franklin's father Alton and, most recently, his crew member Black Diamond - in the show's sixth and final season is none other than Amin Joseph's beloved Jammin' Jerome Saint, aka Uncle Jerome. In "Snowfall"'s sixth episode,...
