It would have been made for the large screen with some good director, I am sure such a topic would have been great, or a British movie from the sixties. Because this French film offers some kind of Victorian atmosphere with nasty characters. I thought of THE FLESH AND THE FIENDS, or THE BODYSNATCHER, I don't know why. The plot, the characters I guess; I am even sure. I also guess it would have been too bleak, dark, for movie theaters audiences. Yes, such an interesting story deserved better treatment, better direction, better acting. However, I think it is worth the view. Bitter ending, not for all audiences. Rare material.
