The show began life as a pilot for a sitcom. It aired on Minneapolis CW affiliate WUCW-23 (Formerly KTMA TV-23, the original home of Mystery Science Theater 3000 (1988)). In 2008, the creators decided to produce a web series that ran for three seasons and premiered on various sites. In 2010, the show was picked up by ThatGuyWithTheGlasses and ran as part of their lineup for one year. In 2012, a couple years after the web show ended production, a limited TV series consisting of five episodes aired on various affiliates across the USA. In 2007, a 45-minute Halloween Special was produced, boasting a more cinematic look and featuring callbacks to a number of 1980s horror and comedy films.
The first five episodes of the broadcast version of the series mainly consisted of preexisting material from the web version, albeit in a heavily altered form. Segments were either shortened, had different music cues, or in some instances, completely reshot. Because of this, circulation of the initial web series has been discontinued and the show's creators no longer consider them canon (they cannot be classified as "seasons" for this reason).
