- MOFAYA follows a talented musician from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, as he embarks on a dangerous and emotional journey to escape the violence and persecution in his war-torn country, with nothing but a guitar as his guiding light
- MOFAYA, a documentary by Jesse Bernstein, re-traces the inspirational human journey of Mermans "Mofaya" Mosengo, an up and coming musician and asylum seeker from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, who while caught in the middle of political turmoil and human rights violations, is forced to leave his hometown of Kinshasa and smuggle himself across Africa against unfathomable odds with the power of music as his passport. Now the lead singer for the critically acclaimed music group, "Playing For Change," Mofaya's story offers a much needed glimmer of hope for victims of displacement across the globe. In 2023, more than 100 million people have been forcibly displaced worldwide by persecution, conflict, violence, human rights violations or events seriously disturbing public order; reaching the highest number in history of mass human global displacement. The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has the largest population of internally displaced people on the African continent with 5.9 million people, including 700,000 newly displaced. Today, one in every 78 people on the planet is displaced.
