Gripping stuff (once you get past episode one)
KU_Jayhawks6 August 2023
I have no interest in MMA, have never heard of Lee Murray or this robbery but I love true crime docs so I figured I'd give it a shot. And it delivers. I was glued to the screen starting with episode two.

Episode one could've been left out entirely. It felt completely detached from the rest of the series. Just interminable fawning over this thug and his brief fighting career. MMA fans will no doubt be into this, but wasn't my jam.

Episode two onward is gripping stuff. Tons of surveillance footage and accounts from people who worked in the facility so you really get the feeling that you're experiencing the robbery as it happened. The ensuing police investigation is also extremely well done. Again, tons of detail and a fascinating play-by-play style account from police.

All in all, despite the first episode, it's an excellent series. My only only small beef is way they glorify this guy. He's no genius or fighting prodigy. Just a common street thug that loves to fight (in and out of the ring).

Picks up in episode 3 and gets really good
Desertdwellr17 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Episode 1 and 2 could have been combined with less focus on the machismo nonsense about alley fights and how tough the MMA/UFC fighters. We get it, you have to be fearless and a little "off" to want to get in the ring. There's a lot repetitive material that didn't serve the overall story very well.

Then, starting with episode 3, this docu-series turns into something almost completely different and far more interesting; a forensics examination about how they got caught. It's fascinating how detailed they were with the plan to COMMIT the crime, and then totally inept when it comes to COVERING it up.

Episode 4 focuses on whether Lee Murray was truly the mastermind which I have many doubts he was. Episode 3 and 4 could have been expanded to spend more time on those involved who seemingly may have been the true masterminds.

I was left with many more questions about the "victims" in witness protection who likely played a much larger role as well as those who have disappeared to other countries. Where is all the rest $32mil that is still unaccounted for? This is a far more interesting question to explore than spending time with each and every UFC fighter that knew Lee during his early years.

Pretty good.
kenbo-8736021 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
It's another story of how someone could've been one of the greatest of his chosen sport, only to throw it all away because he couldn't/wouldn't leave his criminal life behind.

It's all about the £50m Securitas heist that took place in Kent in 2006. I remember it well but couldn't tell you a name of any individuals who participated in it before watching this.

There is plenty of interviews from (who I presume are) big names in the UFC. They regale us with stories of how great Lee Murray is/was. How hard he is was. How he would've been a champion MMA fighter. These men were mainly in awe of him. There was some kind of prestige to them being friends with a modern day London gangster who thought he was above the law, It's a shame he chose the wrong path when he did. He had money, he had the fancy cars. He could've earned a lot of money from his talent but an 'easy score' is hard for a criminal to turn down.

Crime seems to pay for a long time for some people. Sooner or later though you will get caught and serve justice. Greed is the main reason for this.

A good watch though. Could've been condensed down a bit but I was never bored.

its the small...
ops-5253510 April 2023
Thoughtless mistakes on weelittle evidence that brought this case to a merely closed end, even though there are strains left out there...

an uncle scrooge's moneybinge in 2006 kent, england got tapped for 59 mill pounds sterling, by seemingly a crashgang of proffesional robbers, some were of course and some were just connected, but the sting of the story goes toward the marshall art fighting environments of southeast london, and mr lee, a strong spangling star on the mma and ufc heaven and well known in that sports world, came to be known as the brawling brain behind the heist.

Its one of the best british made true crime documentaries that iv come over, its constructed on interviews, heist location footage, a very well set and acted dramatization of the prestory, the heist and the aftermath, all very well knit together in a way that doesnt make or break who was the best, the heistcrew or the policing. So 17 years later most of the culprits have been nicked and have done prison time, and now we have the story. Quite an invigorating mini tv serie that you should watch.

Here in norway we had the ''NOKAS'' in the easter week of 2003(or was it 04), where about 8 mill pounds in norwegian currency where stoles from a counting central in stavanger.ive been fascinated by the planning and the order of guts to excecute such crimes even here in innocent norway. Also albanian and balkan connected, with the harshest heist criminals of norway, made this very personal due to how close it happened, and also the tragic outcome it had. Half of the loot is still missing the thugs though were caught and convicted.

The nokas heist has also been documented alot, but best of them all is the ''nokas''-movie, an intense dramatization of the coup, a must see for every truecrime viewer of the world.

So have a nice showtime viewing ''catching lightning'', the biggest papermoneyheists that will ever happen.recommend from the grumpy old man.

A must watch -
natjames-9332526 May 2023
This documentary was great.

To finally hear from Lee himself and see how the lengths the UK Police went to make him out to be the ring leader when clearly that isn't the case.

It's clear the Police's efforts were fuelled by disliking Lee for many years prior as they have made no attempts to go after the other two.

Lee has served his time and more. In tough conditions, he has kept quiet until now.

He should be freed. The extended sentence was completely unwarranted and is continuing to punish him and his family.

You can not infringe on human rights in this manner.

Congrats to Pat and the team! It was worth the wait.

Warning: Spoilers
Really enjoyed this series, definitely the most accurate one i have seen on Lee Murray and the biggest cash robbery in the world the £53 million securitas heist. A must watch for mma fans and true crime fans, seen many documentaries about this subject and always wanted to hear Lee Murray's version of it which this documentary provides and also good to hear from family and friends includeing his wife, daughter, childhood friends and trainers to get both sides of the story. Also hear from the police who investigated the robbery, prosecutors and barristers involved in the trial and also the victims of the robbery, highly recommend this series to anyone with an interest in mma or true crime.

Brilliant doc, every episode had me captivated and on the edge of my seat! Highly recommend 4 episodes weren't enough definitely need a follow up. Love how it was shot and really really enjoyed how it was all put together. From the first episode I was gripped but episode 2 was definitely my favourite. Really interesting to see the ins and outs of the story from another perspective other than the media. Absolutely insane story and glad it's been given a spot light in this documentary.

I think it definitely needs to be consider for an award!!!!! From start to finish it was enthralling, nail biting and cinematic genus.

Warning: Spoilers
Great Story Exceptionally well told! This documentary succeeds where many others have tried and failed miserably to tell this story.

I remember when this happened in the UK so to finally see this in a documentary was long overdue To hear from the man himself was even better this needs to be made into a film it would amazing to see it on the big screen with a big budget Episode 1 was riveting and Tony frykland had me in stitches over and over again Episode 2 where you hear Lees voice sent shivers down my spine The last episode left me with so many questions , it impacted me a lot I came away feeling like justice was not done in this instance and the man has done his time now.

Little too much focus on UFC
kevin-burns29315 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Overall story was interesting. I know it's a Showtime Sports doc but too much focus on UFC stuff, and I'm a big sports fan. The worst part was the MMA interviewees constantly saying how tough they are to be fighting. Especially with that one dude who told the London police to back off because they're professional fighters and police in London don't have guns. Then they said he was in charge of the situation?? Lmao ok dude. Full of fragile masculinity. Which is a shame because the story of the fighter is pretty interesting!! But couldve been much shorter. The description makes it seems like it'd focus on the robbery but that is not the case.

Best sports documentary ever.
wnzqkqtq26 May 2023
This is by far the best sports documentary I've ever seen, compelling viewing at its finest. My hubby made me watch this as his an old school MMA fan so he loved seeing Chuck Liddell - Pat Miletich & the greatest middleweight ever Anderson silva on this show. I watched it reluctantly because I HATE sports documentaries in general but from the get go this one had us both hooked from beginning to end. We laughed at some of the peoples stories- recounting in detail actual events and towards the end it got quite emotional. We both thoroughly enjoyed it and my hubby has actually watched it again lol.

Can't believe his still serving time in prison. His paid the price for what he done just don't get how he was sentenced to so long. No one was hurt, people make mistakes.

What a great documentary!!!!
vkdmnrk26 May 2023
This documentary was incredible was glued to my seat once I put it on I couldn't stop watching and binge watched the whole thing in one go.

Loved how it looked unbiased at all the different perspectives and think that for the first time we see for our self's who Lee Murray really is and he seems very likeable which I wasn't expecting at all, my only gripe was that I wish there was more episodes as I didn't want it to end and would of liked to know more about his childhood growing up. Well done to whoever made this it was a brilliant watch and I hope they do another season maybe when he gets out to finish his story.

Brilliant watch.

Brilliant watch! Need another season! 10/10

The series was brilliant! I binged watched it was interesting to hear from all the people that was involved the ufc fighters etc. I did want to see him walk free at the end! He's done years now he's done a lot of time in Morocco I do think he should be out by now people do a lot worse and get out a lot sooner. Morocco must be hard place to serve that much time listening about the cells and the conditions rats etc it's no England. It was also interesting to hear the news stories to the real story!

Really hope we will be getting a season two coming out!

Excellent Series
akafanquestions20 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I thought the whole thing was well done, I was really impressed hearing from the fighters like Chuck Liddell and Remco Pardoel who I did not see listed on the cast here on IMDB. That needs to be updated.

I remember hearing from Chuck about the fight in England when his close friend took me to meet him in Las Vegas. It was a bit covered up but apparently Tito got Knocked out by Lee, who was a smaller fighter and Tito was the world champ. He still denies it today.

I am sure the UFC did not want that out there in case Tito's star power got devalued. We never got to find out how Tito VS Lee would have ended up in a UFC cage. We did get to see a very competitive match with Lee Murray and Anderson Silva in Cage Rage.

I will leave the rest of it up to you to watch. Enjoy!

Brilliant - I need more!!
xyrjgs27 May 2023
Didn't know much about this situation but saw the series and thought I'd give it a watch. So glad I did...

I was hooked from episode 1 and binge watched the whole thing in a day! I was googling while watching the series and the casting of the characters was great! All of the actors played their roles so well.

If you haven't watched it you need to. Lee Murray what a legend!

I want updates on where he is now and what's happened since. He's still in Moroccan jail from what I've read online which is crazy considering no one was harmed or died during the robbery. We need a season 2 haha!

10/10 would recommend!!

A Good Story Overtold
doakprocter15 April 2023
The first 3 episodes were rather good and interesting (even if overly focused on Murray's MMA career more than the core story).

The fourth episode, however, was tedious to say the least. It was as if the director gave the microphone to a room filled with everyone and then left and let them pass it around until they all were exhausted. I swear it went on for 45 minutes after the end of the story. Just comment after comment, and some got more than one shot with the mic. Tedious.

One might think one would like to hear how every single person who had anything to do with this story (and a couple others) feel about its outcome, but the final episode would prove one wrong (or, at least, teach one to be careful what you wish for).
