A tad bit generic

Warning: Spoilers
This is nothing I haven't seen before but I guess this is a good show to keep your little kid entertained while you're doing something else, the only thing I can really praise the show for is how diverse the cast is.

That being said, why did they need to make the first episode an hour long? All the other episodes are at a normal length and they really didn't need to defeat the big bad in the first episode either.

I'm sure she'll come back later but the big battle they had at the end felt more appropriate for a season finale or something than the first episode but oh well.

I didn't go in expecting much but I somehow still felt underwhelmed by the show and I'm still not certain if I should go and watch the other episodes, but hey, at least the kiddos obsessed with unicorns probably love it.

Pretty great for what it is

Of course, it being made for children, there are some annoying or cringe moments. That being said, most of the characters are very well fleshed out. They grow throughout the first season, not only as individuals but also as a group. There are a lot of lessons to be learned, and watching as an adult, it's quite refreshing that the drama is mostly realistic for teenagers.

The friendships depicted are in my opinion also quite realistic, and relatively healthy. Especially the bond that Sophia forms with her new BFF can teach a lot of young kids what a good friendship can really be like.

And then there's the magic, the unicorns, the school. It's quite reminiscent of Winx Club, but without the flying. And the villain with the sidekicks remind me of Fairytopia. It's not too dark, but still engaging enough.

Then the animation. In some scenes, it looks a bit wonky and it could have been animated smoother. Still, it looks nice enough that it didn't bother me too much.

All in all, it's a nice watch. It's not the best quality tv out there, but it's also not trying to be. It's fun, it's magical and there are a lot of laughs.

Combination of Spirit Riding Free and Harry Potter franchise

Warning: Spoilers
I have to say, these newbie upcoming series is amazing and enchanting to watch by everyone and all age. But since its based on the comic book by Julie Sykes, which I haven't read. My review is based purely on what I've watched.

I want to start with the animation, which I have to admit, looks very cool, colorful, smooth and beautiful, feels like watching Barbie. As far as I can see, there seems no flaws to the animation style.

What I want to highlight about this series, one of them are the character development. Each main protagonist is continue to experience growth in their personality, experience character development that keep continue throughout episodes. These character development of each protagonist is very favorable, makes me enjoy each episode as each character continue to grow their personality up until the last episode.

Other things that makes this series unique is each episode has an unfinished endings that will continue in the next episode. I think that's something that almost not find in any other preschool animation series that I've ever watch so far. I think its a great plus for the series to teach kids that not all episode or our life will always have an happy ending, so they can really learn the meaning of life. These, combined with their great storyline, make this series is intense and exciting to watch

As for the score, despite its not a musical drama, the music/songs (including the theme song) chose for the series are suit with the whole series journey.

Despite these positive reviews, there are a few drawbacks that I need to address.

The fight between the villains (including Ravenzella) and the protagonists is tend to be boring and not intense. Particularly in last episode when Ravenzella was conquered Academy, she was like "What, that's it? No Intend to do something more or what beside just put revenge on the Academy?" That part makes me a little confused of what her true goals once she took over the Academy.

Despite I mention a positive review about storyline, for particularly for first episode which is a special movie however, I kind a disagree if the main protagonist (Sophia Mendoza) defeated Ravenzella straight away (even though Ravenzella return again in the following episode, but in the end, she just return to the prison after defeated). I would like if in the first episode all the main protagonist are able to bring the villain back to the prison before they all defeated her together once and for all in the final episode.

Last, special for Muslim, its not advice to watch this series since contain magic etc., that worried belong to syirik. Even if want to watch, just to earn moral lesson from the series.

All in all, this series is great and exciting and able to be watched with family. I can't wait for the next series, therefore I may will renew this review.

Until then, its a Spirit Riding Free and Harry Potter roll into one exciting animated series for family.
