So so Made-for-TV Movie

The story was interesting until the last 40 minutes when it turned highly predictable. And the end was very mellow for me.

Did anyone notice no glass broke
machrox-7614724 January 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Did anyone notice at the end of the movie when the sister was shooting at Miles and his security guard who were inside the house while she was shooting from outside, that the large windows of glass didn't break, but the both got hit with tranq. Bullets and dropped to the floor.. it's winter, the windows are not open...pretty funny! But, it was mindless entertainment on a cold winter night!

What to say...?

The movie wasn't so bad after all. But... clearly the end is totally nonsense. Who's the real killer and the real victim?

Unwatchable

Thought I could get over the female star's crossed eyes; but the plot was so horrendous that her weirdness didn't really matter, because I looked for another movie to watch less than half way through.

Not very impressive
blanche-27 October 2023
Time of Death is an intriguing film that encompasses murder and romance.

People are being killed at 10:41 - with the killer actually checking his watch. An FBI agent (Kathleen Robertson) is brought in, and soon the murders are connected to a long-ago case that was called accidental.

I found this interesting, but it was solved too quickly and became predictable.

Average tv movie. Someone on IMDb stopped watching because he couldn't stand the lead woman's crossed eyes. Really? Her eyes are a little too close together- she probably had strabismus - so did Norma Shearer - and had to train the weak eye by wearing a patch. No care was taken with lighting or camera angles in this film. She was hardly a monster from outer space. And what a nasty thing to say.

Good Leads

Standard story, and lost steam near the end. Overall, good performances, dialogue above average for a TV movie. Leads have great chemistry.

Passable until the end

Seriously? Jordan makes the decision in the end to blow away the victim's sister? Absolutely ridiculous. That last perpetrator deserved to die. I'm not very happy that I spent time watching this garbage.

Weird film
canyongirl6020 August 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Was she FBI or Department of Defense. DOD has their own investigative agents, why would she be working their cases? And why would she leave the FBI because she doesn't like the types of cases she's been working when she could just seek to transfer to a different squad to do different type of field work?

Predictable, boring and messy script
lawman-6529416 May 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I enjoy watching crime and thriller movies. This one is terrible even compared to many other made for tv films. First off, Jordan Price the main character is constantly mentioning that she is a part fo this case because it is a Department of Defense matter (DOD); however, she also frequently mentions that she is FBI. Which of the alphabet agencies are you are a part of? Both organizations have their own investigation teams. In addition, the chemistry between the two main characters were lacking and their development make no sense. They go from strictly professional and cold/aloof to sleeping together right away?

I watched this mainly because I have seen Kathleen Robertson in other films and she is capable of putting in a decent performance. This movie is worth one watch if you have nothing else.

Great movie perfect for day in bed
sideshowsuzy-866-8242414 October 2014
This is a great film, I can't get over how many good films I'm getting to see the afternoon by channel 5 uk. They may call them B movies and STVs but they are far better than that. This one is excellent, great story gorgeous actors, shot really well, great background music. Plus good love story too. It's got it all, give it a go. It doesn't pretend to be CSI like a lot of films these days. I figured it out but hey that's half the fun. Enjoy this it's a good one. I am curious how these films get neglected and don't' run on prime time on our TV maybe they do in the States. It makes no sense. Maybe the Hollywood players have all the power and control the A lists, well it's about time they realised that the likes of this film are just as good if not better than some of the rubbish they throw millions of dollars at. Hey here's an idea how about making all the Hollywood lot take a pay cut, and Uk footballers, then you'd get really good people doing it for the love of it.

Terrible ending
julytwentyfourth29 June 2015
Warning: Spoilers
I found it quite boring, it was pathetic how the lead investigator slept with this guy she just met like it was no big deal, is that what we feel is acceptable in modern society? If not what put that in the film? Normalising a total lack of morals of self- respect. And the killer should not have been killed. Those guys raped and killed her sister, she killed them and then the police killed her; three wrongs do not make a right. So in the end BOTH sisters were treated like they were worthless. If the police had spent less time messing about with the last guy to survive they would have caught her and she wouldn't have got shot. That woman felt an immense lot of pain from what she witnessed and carried around with her her whole life and the scriptwriter gets her killed off? Totally wrong.

Sin and Death
compugor27 August 2019
Warning: Spoilers
A story about rape, murder, lying, bribery, and intimidation presented against the backdrop of investigators casually fornicating as they go. Tragic all the way through to an awkwardly depressing finale, then closes with kissing as if it was a sappy happy ending romance.

Price and Larken Make a Good Team!
lavatch17 August 2019
Warning: Spoilers
"Time of Death" is a well-crafted film that is all about teamwork as FBI SA Price links up with Detective Larken to solve a complicated case.

The film's title derives from a diabolical scheme in which murders are being carried out like clockwork at precisely 10:44 pm. The special agent and detective contemplate studying numerology to find out the significance of the time. But it turns out that good, old-fashioned detective work leads them to the killer.

The film had a little bit of everything, including dramatic tension, suspense, careful plotting, colorful locations, and even romance. It was almost inevitable that the sparks would be flying between SA Price and Detective Larken.

Both the character developments and the dialogue were crisp in this especially well-made TV movie. Above all, the acting was terrific, especially the mismatched pair of Price and Larken, who turn out to make a good team.

Pathetic
twwoodchuck7 October 2019
This is about the worst movie I can recall seeing in the past couple decades. What plot there is has nothing to recommend it, The acting is completely lackluster, and the main character is so deadpan she makes Joe Friday from the original Dragnet tv show appear to have been over-emoting to the point of hysteria.

My personal rating system within the imdb universe is as follows:

1 Star - complete waste of time, to the point where I couldn't stand to watch it all the way to the end and turned it off. Usually this is 1/2 hour to 1 hour into the film. There are too many films worth seeing for me to waste much time on the turkeys.

2 Stars - basically a One Star movie, that I happened to watch all the way to the end. While I know I wasted time I can never get back there is a late night effect that makes me not want to start something else too late. So I take the attitude I always had when I went to the movies in theaters and paid cold hard cash to get in. To quote The Who - "Won't get fooled again."

4 Stars - I am basically house-bound so I watch a lot of gubbage that I really probably shouldn't. A 4 star movie is not a complete loss - although it can come pretty close. It certainly is nothing I would ever be willing to watch again. I know when I look up a film and discover I previously gave a flick a 4 star rating I will never make that mistake again. Consequently this is the most important rating I make. a 6 Stars - this is a reasonable movie and I could end up watching it again.

8 Stars - Good movies get 8 stars. If I've not seen them recently I will probably watch them again.

9 or 10 stars - a great movie. This is the sort of film I can watch almost any number of times, sometimes even over a very short space of time - like the time I watched "Bringing Up Baby" twice in two nights. Were I to use my preferred rating system I would make 4 Stars the top rating, with a symbol for complete trash (ie Leonard Maltin's BOMB rating). Quite frankly I think that 5 ratings in total more than adequately covers the field. Were I to publish a book like Shearer or Maltin or some others, I would not bother with half stars

My ratings are specific to my taste, obviously, but I think they give a pretty good indication of how I think others would react to these same movies, If they started with my rather eclectic taste and background. I tend to avoid Soaps, and "Heartwarming" movies altogether and my ratings reflect my distaste for this sort of gubbage. I am not an "It's A Wonderful Life" fan. Give me the

I like BITTER tales of nasty people gleefully doing vile things to each other - but usually with a sense of humour - or at least one of irony. I tend to avoid romantic comedies and "Scrooge" related stuff (although the Alistair Sim version of "A Christmas Carol" is a film I have watched roughly 1.5 times per decade since it first showed up on television in the 1950s. I've seen a couple other versions too - but mostly I can tell by watching the Trailers for these flicks that I would not be willing to watch the full movie (see "Heartwarming" above).

At the end of the movie the FBI agent kills the real hero of this story, and everyone seems to think this FBI agent did a great job. Awful ending that could only happen in a Quebec-made movie!

Kathleen Robertson needs to...
linda-plant219 June 2020
SPEAK UP !!!! mumble mumble mumble. I'm not deaf, but I had to increase the volume constantly. She was speaking softly, into her coat, sideways. Surely at drama school students are told to speak clearly !!!

Haven't a clue what was happening half the time with this film, because Ms Robertson has most of the unintelligible dialogue.

If actors/actresses continue to perform in this way then the sound engineers need to up their game so the audience can hear. Even Nicole Kidman 'whispers' her performance - nightmare.

Sloppy writing but I made to the end
tommaguzzi-961713 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The plot idea was OK but the execution was poor and they missed a chance at the end.

They shoehorned some sex/love into this for no decerable reason, it was very awkward and could have done better by creating some sexual tension which never gets resolved . At the end I fully expected the sister to drag the remaining killer over the cliff for them both to die. Instead she is shot by the females detective which was very unsatisfactory. Lastly there was that stupid kiss scene at the very end.

4 stars for the plot which kept me engaged without too much fast forwarding.

Strong female lead adored by younger male character - yes!
ssppetralli28 August 2022
Man in power meets younger women/girl through work, and she adores him. Nope! Not this time. Finally a movie with a strong female lead, where a younger man is assigned to work for her. The young man adores the older woman and falls in love. Finally on screen! I love it! This movie takes a big step of representing a female lead, most actors in the movie (including the extras) are stil men, men, men... maybe one day, we will see a movie, with more females than men. I wish.

Also not to forget to mention the storyline. Important topic. Exploited women, and boys/men misusing their power. I won't go into details... watch the movie!!!

Bad. Just the worst.
markritter-5911012 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
How this movie got a 5+ rating makes me wonder what people are smoking. I won't touch on the incredibly poor acting, or the fact that it is one of the dumbest plot lines ever. I will just tick off the handful of things that highlighted it's patheticnessness. (And yes, I added an extra ness to showcase it( FBI agent looking to handle her first big case sleeps with her new prepubescent detective partner their first night of the job. Yeah, that's happening.

Killer assassinates all her victims at 10:44pm, which seems difficult. Especially when they all live in high rises that she somehow climbs. Doubtful.

You know what, I've spent too much time on this already. Just don't watch it. You will thank me:)

Badly Constructed, Badly Executed
dfwenigma9 October 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This is yet again another Canadian film trying desperately to seek the middle ground so that they can cash in on both US and American markets which are so substantial. A quick look at the credits demonstrates that nearly every single name is French. Fine. But the FBI. That's what got me. This is supposedly a US film. I have to hand it to the folks who handle continuity. They were good. Except for "sooooorry" you couldn't guess it was Canadian. Except you could. Throughout there were differences which are readily apparent.

This was shot on location in Canada. Canadian films have a different vibe to them. That would be fine but why the ruse? Why pretend this takes place in the US? Or that we're using the FBI in some sense.

Then the weak link between the FBI and a DOD case. Except for border cases the FBI doesn't generally operate outside the US and DOD people are DOD people; FBI are FBI. If any US Agency would investigate this it would probably be the DIA. The Defense Intelligence Agency but that would be a stretch.

In general FBI doesn't get entangled in US cases either unless there are cross state lines type issues or a small laundry list of federal versus state issues. They stay as far away from DOD stuff as they can because they just don't have the necessary credentials to work with DOD without a lot of effort.

The storyline is so weak. And it was predictable. The characters in the storyline were weak and underdeveloped. The events of twenty some years before didn't add up. The exposition was so poor that one couldn't tell why someone was murdering until about 2/3 of the way in. That's just bad writing period.

I wish Canada would produce Canadian crime movies and leave American crime movies to Americans. Also can we please regrow the US film industry - Canada's is very robust and we don't need it. Let them make their own and let's make our own and everyone will be richer for the effort.

Don't Risk Wasting 2hrs of Your Life You'll Never Get Back
JimmieOlsen23 March 2017
It took only 10 minutes into this film to see this was going to be a total waste of time. Right from the start when the title credits were rolling by I could see this was one of yet another of a plethora of Canadian films that are poorly written with sub par acting and are of low production quality overall. While I did not watch beyond the first 10 minutes, I am suspicious of any positive reviews and believe they may possibly be associated with members of the cast or crew.

A simple TV movie
davyd-022372 February 2019
Warning: Spoilers
The script in my view is pretty poor, the acting isn't great. Whilst an attractive looking leading couple I didn't find much in this to compliment it and it isn't a movie you would wise to see twice. Interestingly, the movie channel it was on chose to show it at 11AM, therefore, around 12noon you have a guy in a "gentlemans club" watching a pole dancer. None (and theres more than 1) villains have any redeeming qualities, just simply greedy businessmen who think they are above the law!. All in All...not worth watcing

Original top-class revenge thriller with superb cast.
rossmcfarlen14 October 2014
Top-class revenge thriller (well written and acted with an out-of-the-blue plot twist) starring enigmatic beauty Kathleen Robertson (looking much younger than her actual age) and the lovely Gianpaulo Venuta - superb chemistry between these too.

She plays an FBI agent assigned to find the killer of a top CEO and he plays the rookie cop that she is loath to work with, as he seems initially to be the wet behind the ears greenhorn. More murders follow and a 'cold case' is opened.

On-the-ball,sharply observed crime thriller that hasn't employed any visual or spoken cliché. Can't recommend it highly enough and look forward to seeing the lovely Ms Robertson in other features.

Thinking about it, I don't think I have ever praised a made-for-TV movie as highly as this one.
