The infamous 'babies' scene was a last minute addition to the film at the suggestion of producer Jordan Cochrane in an attempt to speed up the middle of the film and explain some of the films plot loopholes. Director Jacob L. Williams was initially skeptical but after some test runs came to love this scene.
The Fancy Dress Party was originally written as a Dr. Who party with all of the guests dressed as Dr. Who characters. However for practical reasons (and fear of BBC lawyers) this was changed to be much more generic. With designer Leanne Fitchett stepping in to dress all of the characters.
When preparing for the role of Buddy, actor Rob Hall had intended the character to have his natural Birmingham accent. However when performing in the audition he found the American accent coming out of his mouth. This was loved the producers and key to him getting the role.
The film took 6 years to make due to a variety of production problems including a lack of budget and the global pandemic. Originally written in 2016, the first filming days took place in summer of 2018. Then after a huge rewrite production continued in early 2020. With the film 90% done, the pandemic struck and it was nearly two years before the final scenes could be completed.
Writer/Director Jacob L. Williams came up with the idea for Timespiracy in June 2016. He remembers it clearly as it was the day after the UK voted for Brexit and he was walking the Birmingham canals when inspiration struck. He would also go to see Independence Day: Resurgence (2016) on that day as an act of irony against the vote (and also because there were no other decent films showing).
