Not bad but a bit gimmicky
coasteraddict-1679629 June 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I just want to start by saying this episode was not bad by any means, although it's my least favorite of the season so far. However, the guest appearances didn't bring much to the table. For an episode written by Rob, Charlie, and Glenn, it fell a bit short of what they usually produce. There weren't many scenes that got a legitimate laugh out of me, and it felt like Cranston and Paul were just there for the sake of being there. A few scenes also felt a bit awkward/forced, like the scene where the limo driver yells at Charlie.

With that said, the episode certainly has its moments. Charlie's "nickelschlager" made for some very funny moments, and it was also very funny when Dennis threatened to sew Dee's lips shut.

Not bad, but could have been better. 7/10.

Breaking SUNNY!
mkayseryan6 October 2023
I AM IMPRESSED WITH HOW LONG THIS SHOW HAS BEEN FUNNY! Bryan kills it like usual, he was very funny in this episode and so was everyone else. This might be one of my favorite episodes hands down. I laughed through the whole thing and I would love to tell you what part made me laugh but it would spoil it for you. I love this show and I loved this episode and I'm thankful the writer and actors still have love to keep going. It's really amazing to see them still make my favorite episodes in 2023! 2,3,4,5 and 6 are my favorite seasons and so is 14 15 16 thank you for a hilarious episode it was very funny start to finish.

This season so far...

Is quintessential Always Sunny! And this episode is no different. It was especially a treat for me because Break Bad is one of my favorite shows of all time as is Sunny, so the faux crossover was *chefs kiss* I have absolutely loved this season so far it's been the best in a while and feels like old Sunny whereas the last couple seasons felt forced. As is related to this episode in particular, the best part comes towards the end. Bryan is such an incredible actor, as is Aaron, and they manage to shine here even as guest stars. The part of the episode that I enjoyed the most I replayed multiple times over, it brought back memories in a way of times past. Anyway, so far so great! Enjoy this episode, you'll know which part I'm referring to when it happens lol!

This season has been a breath of fresh air
j_cary8829 June 2023
Warning: Spoilers
If you're someone like me, you've been pretty disappointed with this shows direction over the last 6-7 years or so. Ever since the big bad orange man got elected, like every single other show on television, this show started throwing virtue signaling in almost every single episode, and unlike previous seasons where they'd jokingly mock topical issues and take both sides of the debate, it was always tilted to the left, and so on and so on. It got so tiresome with these shows that are supposed to be an escape from the ultra political world, watching every plot have PC plot lines forced in.

It was so much more absurd in this shows case, because the characters are supposed to be low life bums, and it made them go wildly out of character talking about unisex bathrooms, pride events, climate change... just give me a break.

Well this season has been so much better. I had to wait at least 4-5 episodes in to really accept that it's going back to its roots out of fear that after a couple good episodes it would be ruined again... so far, so good. In fact these might be the most hilarious episodes this show has produced in over a decade. Just funny nonsense schemes and gross out Frank humor, and the lovable wildcard idiot Charlie, the best character of the show.

Please please please stay the course. So far this season has been such a welcomed breath of fresh air.

Malcolm's Dad makes it.
tompo-755611 July 2023
The reason I Iove this programme so much is because of the ridiculous situations that become something.

It's The Simpson's made real most of the time.

I still can't look at the newer botoxed faces seriously while Charlie looks the same while the rest are ridiculous looking!

I know it's been said a billion times already and we can put it down to the characters vanity but it's bad work.

Danny De Vito (as always) Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul save this episode, but only if you know Breaking Bad.

As funny as this episode is, without the stellar supporting cast it's a very weak episode but I did love the suits.

The end has arrived
This episode was basically just a vehicle for guest star appearances. And they weren't anything special beyond the name recognition. A whole show pretty much dedicated to a celebrity booze joke and no one really seemed to be into it. Devito just plays a disgusting animal, which is pretty funny at first but is seeming more and more like a crutch for lazy writers.

A few laughs but mediocre overall. I think it's time to end the show, it has become a caricature of itself. The botched plastic surgeries everyone but Charlie Day got doesn't help with the whole caricature aspect either. It's time for this show to wrap it up... it was a great run. But it's time.

Barely an episode
sfsc25972 July 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The gang missed the boat on this one. Barely an episode with a terrible b plot that makes no sense, solely reliant on cameos. Arguably the worst episode of the whole series due to it's departure of what actually makes the show funny.

This season feels hollow as if no one wanted to be there, everyone looks bored for the most part and the chemistry feels off. Really disappointing as a long time fan.

The writing in particular this season has either relied on half baked callbacks such as "SINNED", referencing Charlie's sister's or cameos like with Chase Utley. Feels like a completely different show run by out of touch celebrities rather than the sharp, crude satire we all know, love and can quote effortlessly.

Someone put this show out of its misery.

A rare miss. Really bad episode.
rwblr-824572 July 2023
I'm a huge sunny fan, but this episode was a complete wash. It must have seemed funny to pitch, but this just did NOT land. No B story, no actual stakes. Frank has money and Charlie eats weird things was the laziest and sloppiest carriage to give us completely unrewarding cameos from Brian and Aaron. Their involvement required several scenes of explanation and no payoff. Puns about endorsements doesn't deserve an entire episode of tv. I've watched the entire series 20 times over and this is easily the worst sunny episode ever. By a mile. Horribly done. Frank vs. Russia was an absolute triumph of pacing and originality. This was a debacle.

It's a completely different show
sarahm173 July 2023
I've never been bored watching an episode of IASIP before. While this isn't the worst of this season it's still not up to the expectations I have. I've rewatched this show 3 times. This season is my least favourite. The balance and vibes just feel off. It's almost awkwardly painful watching these episodes. I think the right word is cringy. It feels forced and the script and plots are awful. In this one they just relied on the guest appearances which was good acting from them but the whole story just isn't good. I waited for this season for so long. The way the cast hyped it up as well on the podcast made it seem like it was going to be amazing. I guess they were just promoting.

I've seen so many people defend it and even like this season but be for real. Look at episodes like Mac & Dennis Move to the Suburbs, The D. E. N. N. I. S. System, The Nightman Cometh and many more. Even compare it to your favourite episode. How can you say it's the same quality? Defend the show all you want but defending these episodes. Either you have low expectations or you're just delusional. I've already forgotten what these were about. The fact there's only 3 more episodes as well and not one that's likeable or watchable. I've said it before. These episodes have to be sharp, 8-10 episodes per season. They should be entertaining. It leaves no room to hide behind a few bad ones. I will say that episode 7 and 8 look better but I'll have to wait and see.

Celebrity Booze
bobcobb3012 July 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I think the idea of this episode was funnier than the actual execution of it. Aaron Paul and Bryan Cranston playing heightened versions of themselves seems good on paper, but it just did not make sense, nor did it really produce any laughs.

Mac thinking a random person was Jalen Hurts was good comedy, but I am sure some on the internet will get infuriated by it.

I just feel like they're not putting good stories on paper with these episodes. Some moments do make you laugh, but there has yet to be a really coherent storyline that made sense (even for this bunch of individuals) so far this year.

These awful directors...
KryssAnderson3 September 2023
Please stop with Megan and Nina and these other first time directors who have no idea how to keep the humor in the show.

This was such a weird episode. Very cool to have Bryan and Aaron show up but man, so much more could've been done.

The writing is there and engaging but like most of the female directed episodes, it lacks humor. Seems like the whole episode was built around a chance encounter with the Breaking Bad guys and the story was cut down to where is barely made sense.

I know Sunny likes to do throwaway episodes to fill up the slate for the season, but maybe find qualified/talented directors to guide it to being worthwhile entertainment instead.

Without the cameos, this episode would be a 1.
