- Just as Joey and the gang are about to steal 6 high end cars from a dealer, his new wife, her suspicious Mom and nostalgically delusional Dad show up at the joint to slow him while the gang waits with clock ticking, for his signal to act.
- When Joey unwittingly plans a heist with the gang to prove he is capable of taking over Vic's book and then realizes it is on for the same time that they will be meeting Anne's parents to announce her pregnancy, he decides to create a made-up boiler explosion that keeps him at the bar so he can be lookout man and do the job. However, when Anne changes plans and is on her way to the bar with both of her parents in tow, Joey has to maneuver an escape to get to the heist else all of the gang will be caught. With time running out and him getting it from Lew on one side and the hoods on the other, Maxx comes up with a plan that even Saint Anthony won't sign off on. Joey's Place offers an updated look at the world of gangsters, bar people and a way of life that has been passed on for generations, but, the difference and cool hook here is that we show how every character behaves as who they feel they are forced to be by being totally unaware of the skewed psychological manifestations that drive them. With a wide-ranging mix of mental issues that they each suffer from, the show centers around the double lives and unpredictable situations this brings with it in a funny, dramatic, and sometimes heartfelt way while exploring how the effects of childhood trauma affects all of us as adults.
