Boring Breakage
terryterrystone2 September 2018
This show somehow makes exploding stuff boring. They do so much teasing about what is coming up on the show that when you finally get there it is boring and does not live up to their own hype. Plus even worse they show clips of everything coming up later so you've already seen all the good stuff and more than once so what's the point of even showing it again later? It is a half hour show so why do you need so many clips of what is coming up anyway?

The hosts are also terrible, trying so hard to be funny and witty but failing. Either they are friends in real life and just geeky, unfunny and doing jokes just for themselves, or they are trying to make it seem that way and super awkward together, I don't know or care all I care about is that they are boring, unfunny and uninteresting to me. All the small things they do and all the banter they have in the episodes leading up to the "main event" house damage they do is so boring and like I said when they finally get to the little explosion or whatever it is not even remotely worth the wait.

Seriously Never Ever Do This At Home how in the world do you make damaging a house and exploding something boring? I'm happy to see this one is gone.

Very, very bad

Warning: Spoilers
Let me preface this review with saying I created an IMDb account solely to review this terrible show.

This show is genuinely bad. If you are not an adolescent or younger, spare yourself the 20 or so minutes it takes to get through this piece of crap.

There is very little actual content. The show is riddled with dumb "comedic" back and forth with the wildly unfunny hosts, and plenty of "previously on..." and "next up..." segments in the middle of the episodes. Do you really need to show a montage of what is coming up next on such a short show? Just show it! It appears as if they are just killing time in order to make a half-hour of television.

The destruction/experiments are not as prevalent as one might think when going into something of this nature. And when they finally do get to that premise, it is quite uninspired and truly boring. Which seems hard to do considering the importance of action film and television in at least the United States. How can one make wrecking stuff uninteresting? I couldn't finish an episode. I had enough when the show asserted that the five second rule for dropping food on the floor was indeed a myth. Really? Really? I would have rated this show 1 of of 10, but the house, at least in the second season, was quite beautiful. So for that reason...2 out of 10.

Don't watch this. I know it sounds tempting, interesting, and exciting. But trust me, it's not.

Hilarious

Warning: Spoilers

This show is hilarious. 20 minutes (without commercials) of explosions & doing stupid things that you've always wanted to try but didn't because, well, you value your possessions and health.

Are some of the things they do dumb? Sure, but what show doesn't do things that are dumb. Mythbusters is OK, but I can't count the number of times I've screamed at the TV because they are doing it wrong.

I agree that the closet microwave was dumb. But the unopened can on the stove, and the champagne bottle were awesome. I haven't seen all of the episodes yet, but from what I've seen this house won't survive for a second season. For example, we now know that you probably cannot join 2 rooms together by knocking a wall down with explosives.

This show is 20 minutes (if you skip the commercials) of great entertainment, and I really hope they pick it up for a second season.

In a word, disappointing.

In a word, disappointing.

Not knowing anything about the original Norwegian source material I was expecting Mythbusters in the home. What I got was Jackass with warning labels.

The hosts claim to show us what happens when we ignore warning labels, but I've never seen a label warning me not build a walk in microwave. When testing a microwave's "do not modify this device" label they stack multiple microwaves in a foil lined room and thaw a fish. I would have much preferred if they had, for example, removed the door of a single microwave and measured the radioactive output, or perhaps boiled a cup of water a foot away from the microwave.

The inclusion of "experts" seemed perfunctory and left me feeling that the hosts were impatient to get back to breaking things for no particular reason.

While I am sure "Never Ever Do This At Home" will appeal to people looking for repeated explosions and property damage, I am looking for more substance out of my viewing experience.

The actual worst
brittandwesley24 February 2019
This is by far the worst show I have ever had to endure my child watching. They basically destroyed a house for no reason in the stupidest ways. The actual unrepeated footage for the whole season could easily fit into an hour.
