Three soldiers are recovering from Vietnam War injuries in an army hospital. All processing trauma differently, they find solace in each other's company through jokes and deep conversations. Gately, preoccupied with fixing a radio that represents him fixing America, is held back by the antics of his two best friends, who don't wish to leave the hospital.
