Perhaps Universal’s most renowned contributions to cinema lie in their horror library. Frankenstein, Dracula, The Invisible Man, if you can name it they probably made it. But until now, that awesome catalogue was unavailable to view in one place. Sounds like the grousing of a spoilt millennial, I know. The fact is that we’ve all become accustomed to having content at our fingertips. Praise be then that a streaming service has today launched to fulfil that demand. Peacock brings Universal’s esteemed horror collection to the masses.
Unlike its rivals, the service has both a paid-for package and a free one (though you’ll have to contend with adverts). Why not take a look at all the horror films currently available for free, though? Trick question, as there’s no reason why not to. That’s why all the horror films currently available for free are listed below.

I don't know if we have reached our limit of nun related horror films but there are still a smack of Catholics out there repressing bad memories of ruler-wielding nuns from Catholic school. After years and years of using video games as a medium with which I could prepare myself for an actual zombie apocalypse, Zombie Night Terror provided me with something of a conundrum. On the one hand my role as real-life human told me I should be rooting for the panicky, screaming and occasionally gun-toting folks in their quest to escape and survive the hordes. On the other, however, I found myself grinning gleefully each time a group of my zombified minions overwhelmed a trapped human and added another unwilling convert to our ranks. Zombie Night Terror provided me with some of the most rewardingly fun experiences of any game this year, showing proof that there’s more than enough life in this ageing genre yet.

Gambitious Entertainment has been busy creating trailers for three of its upcoming games, including the updated Hard Reset Redux (PC, PS4 & Xbox One), Crush Your Enemies (PC, Mac, Linux, iOS & Android), and Zombie Night Terror (PC, Mac).
Let’s start with Hard Reset Redux, which is a remastered version of a formerly PC-exclusive game, which is now coming to consoles with extra bells and whistles. Its press release offers some great information, including:
The world as we know it has ceased to exist. Surrounded by vast, hostile wastelands, the remnants of humankind’s dwindling population live within the closed city of Bezoar, but the walls have been breached. As a Cln soldier, you are all that stands between the hive mind machines of The Sanctuary, and total extinction.
Combining unapologetically over-the-top destruction and a dark cyberpunk setting, the breakout Fps from Flying Wild Hog (Shadow Warrior 1 & 2) gets reenergized for modern...

Everyone wants a piece of Murphy on season two of Syfy's Z Nation, and ahead of the latest episode's premiere tonight at 10:00pm Est, we caught up with Keith Allan, the actor who plays Patient Zero. In our latest Q&A feature, Allan discusses watching Dark Shadows while growing up, Murphy's mindset in season two, and much more.
Thanks for taking the time to converse with us, Keith. You’ve been involved with a number of horror projects over the years. Were you a big fan of the horror and sci-fi genres growing up? Did you have any favorite films, TV shows, or books from those genres that really stuck with you?
Keith Allan: Absolutely. Horror was huge when I was a teenager. Friday the 13th, Halloween, science fiction like Alien, 2001: A Space Odyssey... great drive-in movies. Lots of fun to go party with your buds and just get silly and scream.

Throughout the month of December, we will be highlighting a film a day that has some tie into the holiday somehow. Some titles will be obvious, others won’t be. Some films will be good and, again, others won’t be. However, we think all titles are worth your time whether to give you chills inside your home or to make you drink more eggnog until you puke laughing.
Ten shopping days before Christmas, and people are being attacked by zombies, but we better not use the zed word because no one else does. Two cops roll up on some deadheads and one tries to gnaw on Jackson’s (Andy Hopper) foot. Thankfully his partner Frank Talbot (Jack Forcinito, not Lon Chaney) shoots his toe off and kills the zombie. Hustle back to Jackson’s second floor apartment and Frank’s wife, Sarah (Nadine Stenovitch) is there fighting off more zombies.

Making a sequel to even a hit independent horror film can be a daunting task. It might not hold quite as much accountability as coming up with the next entry in the X-Men or Batman franchises, but still a nerve-wracking charge nonetheless. It’s a challenge Co-Directors Dallas Richard Hallam and Patrick Horvath embraced when asked to helm the follow-up to Nicholas McCarthy’s supernatural thriller The Pact.
The Pact was a sleeper hit for Director / Writer Nicholas McCarthy who worked the film festival circuit and successfully secured theatrical and home entertainment distribution through heavy-hitters like IFC Films, E One Entertainment, and 20th Century Fox. Reviews for the movie were mainly positive not only through major horror outlets like Shockya.com and Horror.com, but mainstream ones such as the Hollywood Reporter, Los Angeles Times, New York Times, and Village Voice. (Cbr) Syfy has announced a Sept. 12 premiere date for Z Nation, its answer to the wildly successful Walking Dead. Produced by The Asylum, the company behind the cable channel’s hit Sharknado franchise, the post-apocalyptic horror series is set three years after a zombie virus ravaged the country. A team of “everyday heroes” transports the only known survivor of the plague from New York to California, where the last functioning viral lab awaits his blood. While the antibodies he carries represent the world’s last, best hope, he also hides a dark secret that threatens everyone. The cast includes Harold Perrineau (Lost), DJ Qualls (The Loser), Tom Everett Scott (That Thing You Do), Michael Welch (Twilight), Kellita Smith (The Bernie Mac Show), Anastasia Baranova (Veronica Mars), Russel Hodgkingson (21 & Over, Big Fish) and Keith Allan (Zombie Night, Rise of the Zombies). Karl Schaefer (Eureka) serves as showerunner. The pilot was directed by John Hyam,...

Zombie Night (2013)
Director: John Gulager
Writers: Richard Schenkman, Keith Allan, Delondra Williams
Cast: Anthony Michael Hall (Patrick), Daryl Hannah (Birdy), Alan Ruck (Joseph), Rachel G. Fox (Tracie), Shirley Jones (Nana)
If you’ve read the cast, you might think that it’s 1986 again. It’s not, but Zombie Night could be right at home on a video store shelf represented by one of those weird videocassette boxes with no bottom. What I really love about the Asylum is that they are really comfortable about the films they make. Say what you will, but I’m still convinced that somewhere some brilliant, hyperactive kid is taking all these movies in, and in twenty years, he or she is going to direct some grindhouse and horror masterpieces of their own.
The Asylum’s films could be the muse for the next Tarantino or Rodriguez. You just never know.

*an online screener of this film was provided by The Asylum. Director: John Gulager. Writers: Richard Schenkman, Keith Allan and Delondra Williams. Cast: Anthony Michael Hall, Daryl Hannah, Alan Ruck, Rachel G. Fox, Shirley Jones and Jennifer Taylor. Zombie Night is a made for television film, which was produced by The Asylum. This reviewer is very familiar with The Asylum's work in low budget filmmaking, so one goes into one of their movies with reasonable expectations. And, Zombie Night certainly did not exceed any hopes. This title, while well shot, is developed from a fairly weak screenplay, which is almost plotless. The focus on minor characters does not really help the viewer immerse into the experience, as well. Overall, Zombie Night is a fairly ho hum affair and in a saturated zombie film market, it will soon be reburied. The story for the film can be discussed in just a few lines.

*there are spoilers here. Director: Richard Schenkman. Writers: Jesse Baget, Richard Schenkman and Eric D. Wilkinson. Cast: Ian Bamberg, Noell Coet, Adam C. Edwards, Stephanie Erb and Daniel Hugh Kelly. Director Richard Schenkman's name has come up a couple times this week on 28Dla. Schenkman is the writer behind another horror film titled Zombie Night (2013). His latest feature film from behind the camera is titled Mischief Night. This title was released on a few home entertainment formats on Mischief Night, October 30th, 2013. Sometimes called "Gate Night" or "Devil's Night," the night before Halloween is a time for pranks and misdeeds. In this film, Mischief Night is a time for murder! Unfortunately, in this film, the villains appear very silly, which weakens the conflict. The protagonist, on the other hand, is compelling and developed well, thanks to an interesting character arc. Though, Mischief Night offers the barest of thrills. The...

Zombie Night, directed by John Gulager and starring Daryl Hannah, Anthony Michael Hall, Alan Ruck, and Shirley Jones, premieres on Syfy October 26th at 9/8 Central as part of the network's “31 Days of Halloween.” We have a teaser trailer for the film to share.
Gulager, director of the Feast franchise and the ill-fated Piranha 3Dd, pairs with Keith Allan and Delondra Williams, writers of last year’s Asylum-produced Rise of the Zombies and the recent Syfy original Ragin’ Cajun Redneck Gators, for this latest foray into walking dead territory starring a former movie mermaid, a guy who has already dealt with “The Dead Zone,” Ferris Bueller’s best friend, and a 1970’s singing TV mom.
Look for what will most likely be the gorier unrated version on DVD/Blu-ray December 10th from The Asylum - Gaiam.
