During the funeral, Lance Barber, who portrayed George Sr., can be seen in the back of the church dressed as a female attendee.
In this episode and the previous one, the usual brown steer replaces a black bull in the opening title sequence. Presumably, it will honor George Sr and convey a darker tone.
In The Sibling Realignment (2018) when adult Georgie has to be convinced to go to Sheldon and Amy's wedding, he says that when George Sr. died since their mom was a mess, Missy was just a dumb teenager, and Sheldon left for CalTech, Georgie had to handle household responsibilities, which he seemed a bit resentful about. Here, it appears that Sheldon knew that his mom and sister were not okay before he left but that Georgie seemed okay handling the family responsibilities, as his father would.
