Hugo Scott describes Catherine's photography as "...very Don McCullin." Don McCullin is a British photojournalist, recognized for his war photography and images of urban strife. His coverage of the Vietnam War and the Northern Ireland conflict are held in particularly high regard. He is also known as one of two photographers (the other being Stephen Goldblatt) who documented The Beatles on their "Mad Day Out" on July 28, 1968.
Catherine's portrait of Magnus is very much in the style of photographer Don McCullin's "Homeless Irishman, Spitalfields, London, 1970."
