New Delhi, Nov 18: Despite getting satisfactory reviews, "Sooper Se Ooper" didn't do well at the box office and director Shekhar Ghosh blames poor marketing and inadequate show timings for its box office collapse.
"How can a director be expected to do everyone's job? I am doing my job till the film is being made. But if my job is to run after the producers to promote and release my film, then why is there a producer?" Ghosh told Ians in a telephonic interview from Mumbai.
Starring Vir Das, Kirti Kulhari, Gulshan Grover and Deepak Dobriyal, "Sooper Se Ooper" has been produced by Jigsaw Pictures and presented by Reliance Entertainment.
It's.

New Delhi, Oct 28: As many as six films released last Friday, but none of them could excite the viewers at the box office.
"Mickey Virus", which marked the debut of actors Manish Paul and Elli Avram in Bollywood, was the most talked about movie among those that released Oct 25. But the buzz wasn't sufficient to make the audiences catch the film.
"'Mickey Virus' collected Rs.4.75 crore (early estimates) net in its opening weekend," posted trade analyst Taran Adarsh on Twitter.
Directed by Saurabh Varma, the comedy-thriller has been made on a budget of Rs.11 crore, inclusive of publicity and advertising.
Other movies that hit the theatres Friday were Shekhar Ghosh's "Sooper Se Ooper" starring Vir Das, Gulshan.

Vir Das’ latest film Sooper Se Ooper, which released today, has great reviews pouring in already. The actor, who has just recovered from illness, has every reason to smile through the days now.
Vir is being appreciated for lighting up the screen with his presence, dialogue delivery and effortless humor. He has delivered yet another rib-tickling performance. One of the reviews mentioned that, “Vir could give the lead actors from the Rs 100 crore club a run for their money any day when it comes to screen presence.”
Vir Das plays the character of Ranvir whose fortunes are in the dumps and selling his ancestral land in Mumbai is the only way to survive. What follows is a laugh riot defined by a series of comical mishaps. A light-hearted fun film that definitely puts Vir in the spotlight zone.

With Satya 2 having been postponed to November 8, this week's bunched releases included Saurabh Varma's Mickey Virus, the Vir Das starrer Sooper Se Ooper, Rajeev Khandelwal's Ishk Actually along with Bull Bulbull Bandook and Wake Up India.Quite expectedly, it was Manish Paul's Mickey Virus which led the race, though the 15-20 percent start was nothing to write home about. Still given the fact that the campus crowd, and especially GenX has taken a liking for the movie, augers w...

Mumbai, Oct 25: Actor Gulshan Grover, whose "Sooper Se Ooper" released Friday, says his limitation as an actor is that he can never do cheap and down-market films.
"I don't want to do movies which I can't watch with my family. I can't be part of cheap and down-market films. I would rather do small movies where I can explore my artistic skills," Gulshan told Ians.
The 58-year-old says he is content with his projects.
"I am extremely happy with the kind of scripts I am getting these days. I am happy and humbled with the kind of faith filmmakers are showing in me. This is the best time for Indian cinema."
Gulshan.

It is going to be another over crowded week at the box-office with Saurabh Varma's Mickey Virus, the Vir Das starrer Sooper Se Ooper, Rajeev Khandelwal's Ishk Actually along with Amdavad Junction, Bull Bulbull Bandook, Wake Up India and (yes indeed!) Huff! - It's Too Much! Coming to the prospects, obviously with so many releases the business will get divided, though the front runner is going to be Mickey Virus, as it has bright chances of being lapped up by the campus crowd.

With ‘Krrish 3′ arriving on Diwali weekend, there is a mad rush of films filling in theatres a week earlier, what with as many as five releases lined up – Mickey Virus, Sooper Se Ooper, Ishk Actually, Amdavad Junction and Wake Up India.
Ram Gopal Varma’s ‘Satya 2′ was supposed to release this week but owing to controversy surrounding one of the producers being named in a scam, the film has now been moved to 8th November.
Out of the five releases, the only film which has seen some semblance of promotion is ‘Mickey Virus’. It has a strong North flavour to it and the makers may be expecting a re-run of ‘Vicky Donor’ here. However, though there has been some promotion quantitatively, the impact hasn’t been the kind which would make audience queue up at the box office. The film has its chances in Delhi Ncr and Mumbai.

Now this piece of development did catch many unaware. Though occasionally one does see a disgruntled director or an actor getting frustrated with the way a producer treats his or her film, it is pronto brushed under the carpet. However, those associated with Sooper Se Ooper, a satire featuring Vir Das, has seen Sonu Nigam venting his anger. "On Saturday morning, he pulled up Reliance Entertainment, the corporate house backing the film, for giving a step-motherly treatment to the film," informs a source, "He felt totally dejected that after promoting some recent disasters like Besharam and David so aggressively, Reliance just didn't seem interested in Sooper Se Ooper." Considering the fact that Reliance had gone all out in hyping up their recent production Besharam (which has turned out to be a disaster no less), Sonu's ire isn't entirely baseless. "He has a good reason to feel this way," the source continues,...
