Another gem from this series.

Lady Felicia is back, she's asked Father Brown to speak to condemned killer William Harrow. Famed for the 'Brides killings,' he admits that Felicia's goddaughter wasn't one of his victims, Father Brown goes in search of the real killer.

It's a high quality episode, very much a Whodunnit, one with plenty of suspects, a macabre story, and lightning strikes galore. At times it had flashes of Agatha Christie, this was a very nicely imagined mystery.

One of the more serious episodes, there's a far more....grown up tone, only one or two moments of humour.

Always great to see the old faces back, and particularly good to see Nancy Carroll as Lady Felicia, she's definitely been missed, good to hear that accent is still as crisp.

I thought Silas Carson did a great job as The Professor, always such a strong presence. I can't say the same for Brenda in this one, one silly, surprised look too many.

I really enjoyed the scenes between Father Brown and The Professor, some interesting theological discussions.

9/10.

The Word of the Condemned

Lady Felicia returns to Kembleford and belatedly so does her scream. Samuel Harrow is on death row a the Bride Killer.

Although Harrow is guilty of three of the murders. Lady Felicia suspects that Harrow may not have killed her goddaughter Sophie Blackthorn.

Harrow denies killing Sophie to Father Brown but he is not so sure.

A budding criminologist Daniel Price is of the opinion that Sophie's husband, Ralph Blackthorn is the likely culprit.

Father Brown pays a visit to the opening of the Blackthorn Institute by leading criminologist Professor Prichard. He has taken a special interest in Sophie Blackthorn's death.

Later it transpires that Daniel Price has died. Father Brown believes that the killer of two people is now on the loose.

Actually another enjoyable and rather grim episode. Plenty of suspects, weird behaviour and grisly interest in body parts.

Lady Felicia is BACK!!

So nice to see Lady Felicia again!! I live for the episodes where she and Hercule Flambeau are present!!

This one had an interesting plot in terms of the "forensic" laboratory. Also many twists in the house where the lights go out due to a storm and those present split up to find "evidence." We all know, of course, one should NEVER EVER go out alone in the dark to explore the house!!! Always have a person with you!!!

The romance between the Inspector and Mrs. Devine is a great addition to the series. Nice to see it progressing. Now we need to find Brenda a man. And she needs a better hairdo and clothes.
